unclescott58 Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 Just finished building AMT's 1/48 scale model of my all time favorite airplane. The Beechcraft G17S Staggerwing. I like the way it turned out. I hope you do too.
cobraman Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 Looks good. I built that one too but I messed up trying to fake a spinning prop.
High octane Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 Hmmm, very nice and I just may have to get me one. I'm currently working on/finishing up a 1/48th scale Cessna Skyhawk float plane.
Classicgas Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 Very nice. Got this in the stash, a far earlier issue tho.
Pete J. Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 (edited) Yup, love the staggerwing. Walter Beech had it just right! Best looking aircraft of the era. When I was just learning to fly, the FBO I took instruction at, had one he was trying to sell. Sale price plus restoration would have cost $30,000 in 1968. Tried like hell to talk my dad into going in on it with me. No deal. Just another old airplane. Worst mistake of my life, unless you count the 289 cobra I passed up on in California in 1973 for $4,000. Not a practical car. Bought a 911 instead. Oh the mistakes we make when we have 20/20 hindsight! Edited March 20, 2019 by Pete J.
Snake45 Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 Very clean build! Did you paint it, or is is molded in that color? I have an original issue of that kit new in the box, but it's so warped it's literally unbuildable.
cobraman Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 This is the one I built with the stupid prop thing I tried . Didn’t put the kit prop on because the plane looked it’s best in the air .
