Roger U Posted March 22, 2019 Posted March 22, 2019 After my mother passed away I found this photo in a box of old family photos she had been saving. Can someone identify this car? Thank you in advance for any information you can provide.
Richard Bartrop Posted March 22, 2019 Posted March 22, 2019 THe styling is mid 1920s, and not a lot of cars had four wheel brakes then, so I'm guessing a Chrysler?
Oldcarfan27 Posted March 22, 2019 Posted March 22, 2019 That sure matches the picture Richard. I would have to agree with you on that.
Roger U Posted March 22, 2019 Author Posted March 22, 2019 It sure does look like your photo Richard, that must be what it is. Thanks for the information Richard, Patrick, and Pat.
disabled modeler Posted March 23, 2019 Posted March 23, 2019 Nice old car...I love the old square shaped cars of the 20s/30s.
Richard Bartrop Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 Okay, I was wrong. That fender kept bugging me, and it actually looks like it might be a 1926-28 Willys-Overland Whippet
Flat32 Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 I was also bugged by the front fender and now that you found one that matches another detail shows up as different from the Chrysler. Namely the windshield visor. Your Whippet photo is different in the visor and headlight details, but if you narrow it down to a 1928 everything seems to match. Briggs made the bodies for both.
oldnslow Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 (edited) Look at the wheel hub caps , chrysler - round , willys -hexagon . Edited March 28, 2019 by oldnslow
Roger U Posted March 27, 2019 Author Posted March 27, 2019 Now that you mention it I remember my mother and uncle talking about a Whippet in the past. You guys are very good at knowing your cars and the differences to look for. Thanks guys.
