Ok so yes I know it is actually a 53 but I never liked the first generation of Vette in white but that was the only color it came in in 53. So I did some research and found the only mechanical difference between 53 and 54 was half way though 54 they changed the air breathers so the first half of 54 there was no changes other than colors. 53 came white with a red interior and black top, 54 was available Pennant Blue with a Tan interior (which accounted for 16% of the production models made that year), Sportsman Red with a Red Interior (which accounted for a mere 4% of the production models), Polo White with a Red Interior (which accounted for about 80% of the production models) and Black with Red Interior – accounted for as few as six cars and all of the 54 models came with a tan top. So this is now a 54.... Now some cure time then polishing :)

Luckily, that kit contains the parts for both the ‘53 and ‘54 Corvette!??

I’m a huge fan of the first 3 Corvettes. I’ll be looking forward to this build!

Cool!

I did a black '54 with red interior years ago after seeing a beautiful gorgeous one on the freeway.

Let me dig some old pictures. That was about 20 years ago.  Or, it is a good excuse for new pics of old builds.  :)

Found these:

Pictures are dated Jan 2000.  Can't believe it's been 20 years already since this was built!

I need to take new pictures of this build.  The Testors enamel paint job is still in good shape but a light polish may be needed.

Thanks,

Update: Making progress on it, Chassis is done and the Engine is drying waiting to go in. Working on the interior painting now and then on to all the detailing...

Looks good!

Are you painting with Krylon by any chance?

Thank you both..

Interior is Testors spray and the body is Dupli-color, why do you ask?

Thanks, I was just curious--I noticed some slight texture and I'd recently experienced the same thing with Krylon, had to sand and polish it out! Haven't had the same issues with Duplicolor, Plasticote, Testors, OR Tamiya.

This was my first for me to have issues like this with the dupli-color myself but I don't know why. It was kind of strange, every coat looked great when applied but after it sat for a bit it was bringing up what looked like a heavy orange peel. Very strange....
