Paul Hettick Posted April 2, 2019 Posted April 2, 2019 Would like to convert the Revell Jeep pick up to an early style Gladiator. Thanks.
stavanzer Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 Not until you scratch build a master and have it cast, I'm afraid, Paul.
mikemodeler Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 Casey was working on some parts and pieces a couple of years ago, don't think it ever made it to the casting stage. Sure would be nice to have some parts to back date the pickup and the Commando.
leafsprings Posted April 8, 2019 Posted April 8, 2019 Now is the time to get the ball rolling, we are getting a lot of old re issues and many feel the need to spice things up!
Tom Geiger Posted April 8, 2019 Posted April 8, 2019 A blast from our past! I know someone who did this using the custom grille that came in the original Jeepster kit. I don't know how close it is, but maybe as a starting point.
blubaja Posted May 12, 2019 Posted May 12, 2019 Olson brothers resin guys were planning to work on some, last time we emailed.
Casey Posted May 13, 2019 Posted May 13, 2019 There is a company which makes one, but it doesn't match the real grille very well, so I won't even mention it. Really, the Revell J-series pickup kit needs so much work in so many areas, changing the grille and header panel would get you into lipstick-on-pig territory.
dino246gt Posted May 24, 2019 Posted May 24, 2019 I'd be in for one of those early J-20 front end conversions.
gui_tarzan Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 (edited) We've been toying with the idea, but the grille has compound curves and angles so it's difficult to replicate it by hand. It would almost take having one in hand to measure, get angles, etc. That one is not simple to do without that information. I did a rough model in 3D last year but I'm not good enough with the software to pull it off. I know Chris has it in the back of his mind but he hasn't had time to learn the CAD software either.
