TonyK Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 Age 75 after a short illness. I always thought he was a good actor in what few movies I saw him in. Blade Runner was the best thing he did but my wife thinks Ladyhawke was his best.
Mike999 Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 Sad news. Most obituaries mention that he wrote (or re-wrote) the famous "tears in the rain" monologue in "Blade Runner." He was also great in the HBO movie "Fatherland," from the Robert Harris novel. Hauer plays an SS officer in Alternate-Reality 1964. Adolf Hitler, 75 years old, is trying to negotiate a treaty with U.S President (Joseph P.) Kennedy. All history/information about the Holocaust has been memory-holed, and people are being killed to keep it that way. Fans of the novel really clobbered HBO, but they probably did about as good as possible on a cable-TV budget.
madhorseman Posted July 26, 2019 Posted July 26, 2019 Thought he was really good in Blade Runner, and maybe much better in The Hitcher. R I P
Lunajammer Posted July 26, 2019 Posted July 26, 2019 One of my favorites. I first saw him in the TV mini-series "Inside the Third Reich." I just didn't know it was him but he was very compelling as Hitler's personal architect Albert Speer, who you might say was a reluctant Nazi but who was drawn into Hitler's circle of trust because he was artistic, quiet, honest and not political. I became a fan with Ladyhawke and cemented my fandom with Blade Runner. I'd watch him in anything after that. So sad we won't see any more.
slusher Posted July 26, 2019 Posted July 26, 2019 I really liked in The Hither and as a bounty hunter in Wanted Dead or Alive. Gene Simmons was also good in it also. Seems we are loosing many actors over the last few years. R.I.P.

I forgot nighthawks, but Watson sad is I never saw it on the world news or GMA the next day. Some actor or actress can do nothing and get the media excited...

Oh Yeah! I also did not remember "Night Hawks" porn actor Jaime Gillis was in that too, LOL.
Wm David Green Posted July 27, 2019 Posted July 27, 2019 (edited) Please check out "Flesh+ Blood" , Rutger Hauer's 1985 film about mercenaries in 16th Century Europe. Romantic, erotic and bloody adventure, no holds barred, so if you are easily offended stay away. This was director Paul Verhoeven's first wholly English language movie, Verhoeven and Hauer had previously worked together in their native Netherlands on film and tv since 1969. Co-starring Jennifer Jason Leigh, Ronald Lacey (Gestapo agent Toht in Raiders of the Lost Ark). Lady Agnes' (Leigh) maid is played by Nancy Cartwright, better known as cartoon series voice actor, notably 'Bart Simpson'. Edited July 27, 2019 by Wm David Green
