I built this over the course of a year.

I made several mods to the body, such as pancaking the hood and trunk lid. I fashioned hinges for the hood and trunk, and added '59 Caddy taillights. I used the frenched headlights from the kit, as well as the custom grille.

Evergreen half round went into the interior and trunk.

I sprayed Tamiya color coats, and Wet Look Clear on this Merc.

Not my absolute best effort, but I had a lot of fun using new techniques.

I haven't done many projects like this one. Comments are certainly welcome!

Got that look of a late 50's custom right on point.  Nothing drastic, just some really cool custom touches.  That rear photo with the Caddy taillights and the pancaked trunk look a bit like a Bentley.  Very nice build.

Thanks for the comments! I hadn't thought about the Bentley look when I was flogging about on this one! LOL

I went through several two-tone combinations before I settled on these two colors.

It looks really nice.  I think you are being a bit hard on yourself, but then we who build a kit know where the flaws are.

One thing I kinda wish I'd spent more time on is the hinge for the trunk lid. I'm not totally happy with the way it operates. Maybe on the next one, eh? LOL

I kinda got lazy, and didn't want to convert to a dual exhaust....and I really didn't even think about it having the two carbs at the time. HAHAHA
