Greg Myers Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Just finished one off and sitting at the bench looking at my handy work I got to thinking about the first kit in this series and all the different variations. I think this one was first not sure which issue. Red top insert with a flat some what out law style hood treatment. Another interesting point, they all seem to have two names, a Boxtop name and then one on the car itself. So here we have the Street Fighter / BADNEWS. Wheels change with each new reissue also. not sure about the engine Induction, everything else engine wise stays the same.
Greg Myers Posted September 12, 2019 Author Posted September 12, 2019 Quicksilver up next. red insert is gone and the hood now has a scoop.
Greg Myers Posted September 12, 2019 Author Posted September 12, 2019 (edited) BAD Actor. another new hood treatment. This time it's a staggered NACA ducted hood. The large roof insert is gone and in it's place a smaller moon roof. Check out the full length front spoiler, no more chin whiskers. Edited September 12, 2019 by Greg Myers

Mark Posted September 13, 2019 Posted September 13, 2019 The Quicksilver version is tough to find now. Wanting one but being too cheap to spend what they actually go for, I started piecing one together from a couple of junkers and a Street Fighter II. With pieces from both bodies, mine won't have a sunroof OR that huge clear panel at the back of the roof.
1972coronet Posted September 13, 2019 Posted September 13, 2019 One of them -- I believe it was the Bad Actor issue -- had a square of felt 'carpeting' with an adhesive backing .

Looks like that's when it got the round single headlights and radiused rear wheel openings, too. Has anyone here ever tried using a narrowed portion of that roof to make a '59 sedan delivery from the AMT El Camino?

Lordmodelbuilder Posted September 13, 2019 Posted September 13, 2019 I still have my original QuickSilver version I built as a kid. It had the Gold colored felt for carpeting.

IIRC the AMT kit body is a little narrower than the Revell one.

Eek, my own MCM Quicksilver rebuild / mod WIP is running 4 years behind schedule. One of these days soon, I'll have to do an inventory of the leftover parts & body pieces from the gluebombs & half-builds I gathered over the last several years just to make one good keeper pile. Includes a complete hood/front fenders that I won't be needing, but I also need to compile a list of parts I need for trade. What I need and what probably every Quicksilver builder needs in the original decals in perfect shape, especially the silver foil panels. But, graphic artist that I am, an option is to redraw the panel decals with clear lettering, and apply the new decal over Bare Metal Foil. But guys with ALPS or similar style printers can print silver foil decals.

Snake45 Posted September 13, 2019 Posted September 13, 2019 Very cool! I like it! I think that's the first time we've seen a finished model from you. At least it's the first time I've seen one. Let's see more in the future!
