kelson Posted October 11, 2019 Posted October 11, 2019 Started this build a few weeks ago,Fujimi's 300zx,i have Tamiya's version which is way better. But fujimi's version has removable T-Tops and the rear spoiler is separate and the lower bumper is separate. So I decided to build a non-turbo car, color is going to be Tamiya TS-16 Yellow.
kelson Posted October 11, 2019 Author Posted October 11, 2019 I was going to steal the lower front bumper from fujimi's convertible, but I thought I would try to modify the turbo bumper first.I used evergreen styrene strips .015 x.030 and superglue and putty.
kelson Posted October 11, 2019 Author Posted October 11, 2019 So I let the bumper sit for a couple days and after some careful sanding I got a decent result, the blue bumper is the painted fujimi part and my modified part in gray.
kelson Posted October 12, 2019 Author Posted October 12, 2019 Some more progress chassis painted and detailed and the body has been painted.
kelson Posted October 12, 2019 Author Posted October 12, 2019 No backs on the seats,so i tried to make some using sheet styrene and putty and superglue.
waiby Posted October 12, 2019 Posted October 12, 2019 following.. i have the exact same kit and applied the same tamiya paint, but i did a bad job and after such a long time i just got it out and decide to strip the old paint. btw, which mini kit is that in your signature? only one i managed to find was from a Korean brand.

My mini was built from this kit:
kelson Posted October 13, 2019 Author Posted October 13, 2019 just a small update the seats are taking shape, and the first half of the interior is painted I went with a radome tan/dark tan scheme didn't care for the grey/dark grey interiors I kept finding.I also added a door handle on the passenger side using some half round styrene, and a couple small styrene bits on the drivers side to represent power window buttons.
Funkychiken Posted October 13, 2019 Posted October 13, 2019 great progress! I guess you have clear coated over the Tamiya aerosol?
Cpt Tuttle Posted October 13, 2019 Posted October 13, 2019 Great job, I really don't understand the open seatbacks found in most Fujimi kits.....

No,the real color on the 1:1 is yellow pearlglow I have some Tamiya pearl clearcoat in my stash.I just can't decide if I should use it or leave the car as it is.
Dann Tier Posted October 14, 2019 Posted October 14, 2019 I've always loved the design of this car, and yours is looking fantastic!!...great kolor choice....looks like a nice kit still!
Hooked on Chaparral Posted October 20, 2019 Posted October 20, 2019 These color choices are just perfect for this model looking forward to the finished product.
kelson Posted October 28, 2019 Author Posted October 28, 2019 Back with a small update the interior is done,i'm going to install the seats near the end, since the seatbelts attach to the glass and she's on all 4 wheels. The front springs make the car sit high,so they needed to be cut down a bit, also have the glass all painted, but it will need some small touchups.
MrObsessive Posted October 28, 2019 Posted October 28, 2019 Nice start so far! This is one car I literally can't remember the last time I saw one on the road! ? I have the Tamiya kit (turbo) and I'm saving it for a future slump buster as I've never heard anything bad about the kit. This was a classic design for Nissan.......their latest ones just leave me cold with the way they look! ?
kelson Posted November 18, 2019 Author Posted November 18, 2019 Thanks everyone for the comments!,made some progress the last few days, had to scatchbuild the seatbelt latches using sheet styrene and strips, then painted and installed in the glass.
kelson Posted November 18, 2019 Author Posted November 18, 2019 More progress today, installed the glass, the taillights front and rear still need a few touch ups and i added the seatbelts to the interior.
kelson Posted December 2, 2019 Author Posted December 2, 2019 Alright time for an update, added the mirrors and the rest of the clear glass and decals, but they are old and I used setting solution and they look okay, used cigarette foil for taillights backing.Should be wrapping this up tomorrow I hope.
mustang1989 Posted December 2, 2019 Posted December 2, 2019 Looking forward to more on this one! So far this is turning out pretty dang good.
kelson Posted December 2, 2019 Author Posted December 2, 2019 The build is now finished and Under Glass, thanks to everyone for looking in and commenting
