vamach1 Posted October 22, 2019 Posted October 22, 2019 First World Series in DC this weekend in 86 years. It''s been a few good years with the first Stanley cup for DC and now the Nats are four wins away from a championship.
Xingu Posted October 23, 2019 Posted October 23, 2019 My wife and I have watched every televised Nationals game for the last 3 years. Will be a lot of late nights for me watching how the series plays out. Took game 1 last night, so of to a better than expected start. I hope they keep it going. One thing I learned this year is not to watch the first two innings when Scherzer pitches. He has started off shaky in almost every game. My blood pressure is too high as it is, so i just pick up the game in the 3rd inning. Mystics also won the WNBA championship this year. The DC United had a good run for a few years. The Wizards should be good next season, barring injuries. I don't think the Redskins will ever be good again.
vamach1 Posted October 24, 2019 Author Posted October 24, 2019 If they win tonight Houston is toast. 2-2 tie for now.
SfanGoch Posted October 24, 2019 Posted October 24, 2019 The Astros didn't just get beat. That was a curb job last night.
vamach1 Posted October 30, 2019 Author Posted October 30, 2019 Looking more and more like Game 7 and let the best visiting team win. Strausburg is a beast and we've got Max on deck assuming they can hold the 5-2 lead with only three outs to go.
SfanGoch Posted October 31, 2019 Posted October 31, 2019 TV stations need to hire sports reporters who actually know sports. I was watching the news this morning (Good Day New York) and the local sports chick announced that this was the first World Series championship for the team since 1924, when they were known as the Senators.
TonyK Posted October 31, 2019 Posted October 31, 2019 I don't follow baseball but usually find myself watching some World Series games every year. Even I know about the Nationals. Used to be the Montreal Expos, right?

A more accurate statement would have been this was the first World Series championship for a baseball team in the city since 1924, right?

I went to some Senators games as a kid at RFK stadium before they moved to Texas. The NATS are DC's team now and it was exciting to see them win all four games in Houston to take the title.
