iBorg Posted November 2, 2019 Posted November 2, 2019 What's the standards I should look for in a 3D printer. I think the price is getting to a point its worth considering. Thanks, Mike
Ace-Garageguy Posted November 3, 2019 Posted November 3, 2019 I saw some parts yesterday at the Atlanta ACME show that had astounding resolution...made on a $350 machine. If you want specifics, let me know.
iBorg Posted November 3, 2019 Author Posted November 3, 2019 Please send me info.....I'm wanting to up my game. I'm also looking at CNC equipment.
peteski Posted November 4, 2019 Posted November 4, 2019 (edited) Are you proficient in 3D CAD drafting? If not, I would say that this is the first thing you should be looking into when getting a 3D printer. Edited November 4, 2019 by peteski
iBorg Posted November 5, 2019 Author Posted November 5, 2019 I'm pretty good with Illustrator.....I typically learn much better when I have a project I'm trying to complete.

OK, but that is pretty much 2D drawing. 3D is quite different in complexity. I'm also fairly good win CorelDraw, but when I dove into SketchUp, it was quite a new experience. You have to think in 3D space.
peteski Posted November 5, 2019 Posted November 5, 2019 Cool. In that case you have an important obstacle behind you.

Yes sir...this from Pico Elgin, our local 3D guru who showed me his parts this last weekend..."Anycubic Photon. To get the latest news on it and other printers get on Facebook and go to the Anycubic Photon Owners page and the LCD SLA Printers Shoot Out page. The shoot out page is done by Andrew Gott of Athens, Tn., he has recently been appointed by the Elegoo Mars company to do repairs and development on the Mars, which has an excellent reputation, also."
peteski Posted November 6, 2019 Posted November 6, 2019 Yes, Anycubic Photon is very popular printer on a model railroad forum I frequent. Several members own them, and they can produce some really high quality items (and this is in N scale, or 1:160). But hat printer can only produce fairly small items (perfect for small scale modeling).
