JollySipper Posted January 6, 2020 Author Posted January 6, 2020 Hey, Guys.... the interior is done. DupliColor makes a vinyl dye that I've used on this..... it has a nice sheen like vinyl/leather would have. Thanks for looking and for all the helpful comments!
1972coronet Posted January 7, 2020 Posted January 7, 2020 That interior looks great , T.J. ! The cloth-like inserts are easily recognised in the new photos . Keep up the great work !

You're right about the ride height... I've removed 2mm from the rear coils, on the front, the mounting spindle needs to be moved up some. I just cut it off and used a piece of tooth pick to mount it again... (whatever works, right?) The left side has been adjusted... and I'll be using some NASCAR wheels that I got from a guy here in the kit tires. The body has been wet sanded in it's color and is ready for it's final coat... I'll paint the rims black, maybe with a red lip. Thanks a bunch for following, and comment freely....!
JollySipper Posted January 12, 2020 Author Posted January 12, 2020 Here's a mock up of the ride height.... now I can paint up the suspension and finish the chassis.....
bisc63 Posted January 14, 2020 Posted January 14, 2020 That sits better than about any build of that kit I've seen! Liking the color, kinda lukewarm on the wheels. Keep it going!

JollySipper Posted January 14, 2020 Author Posted January 14, 2020 Thanks, Guys! Carl, the rims are from a 1/24 NASCAR kit, the tires are from the Thunderbird..... I had to alter the backs and mounting posts as well as trim inside of the tire to get them to work together... The '80s T Birds were run in NASCAR so I thought it would be cool to have that sort of theme...
c. jackson Posted January 14, 2020 Posted January 14, 2020 should turn out nice...i've built at least three of those box stock.
JollySipper Posted January 15, 2020 Author Posted January 15, 2020 Got the wheels painted up, and just a quick mock-up to see how they're gonna look........ Thanks for checkin' in, and comment freely......
JollySipper Posted January 18, 2020 Author Posted January 18, 2020 Thank you, fellas! Here's a final full-on mock up with glass and interior...... it still needs one more coat of paint, then clear and polish. Things look kinda monochromatic, but maybe the black trim will break it up some...... I plan to get some foil to do the trim with...... Thanks for looking...
JollySipper Posted January 19, 2020 Author Posted January 19, 2020 Thanks, Carl! I'm thinking about tinting the head light lenses now that I see how it looks in the pic...... I used the front air dam, but decided against the full treatment......
LouO Posted January 19, 2020 Posted January 19, 2020 nice project - I like it! Good choice on the wheels ?. I think a light-moderate grey tint on all the lighting and windows would be cool.
JollySipper Posted June 3, 2020 Author Posted June 3, 2020 Sorry it's been so long since I've updated this.... With everything going on, I was unable to get any paint until yesterday. So, I was able to finally get the last coats on everything and get it cleared. Just need to wait to polish it, then I'll do the trim with some black foil. Thanks for looking in!
Curt Posted June 4, 2020 Posted June 4, 2020 (edited) Got to agree that clear coat looks great. You’ve done a lot of nice work; looking forward to the final result. Edited June 4, 2020 by Curt
JollySipper Posted June 4, 2020 Author Posted June 4, 2020 Thanks, fellas! It's Rustoleum Acrylic Lacquer "Crystal Clear"......... It's a nice shine, but tough to spray for me. I did get it all polished up this morning after a light wet sanding. Now the only chance I run of ruining anything is with this foil..... got started on it....... After the foil is done, it's on to final assembly!
rustybill1960 Posted June 4, 2020 Posted June 4, 2020 How is that Turbo-chicken coming along? Looks great and I really like what You did with those rims Very nice choice on the color Thank You for sharing
JollySipper Posted June 4, 2020 Author Posted June 4, 2020 ..... or "Blunderbird"! The foil isn't working out, so I've decided to use the foil as a mask and try to spray the black for the trim...... hoping it works out.
JollySipper Posted June 5, 2020 Author Posted June 5, 2020 It worked out! I had to repolish the thing to remove the adhesive from the foil, but I think it turned out pretty good.....
JollySipper Posted June 6, 2020 Author Posted June 6, 2020 Thanks, Carl buddy! I actually didn't foil the trim, though..... I used the foil to mask, then painted the trim. Turned out pretty good, I think!
