landman Posted January 22, 2020 Author Posted January 22, 2020 The instrument panel and interior are completed. Cut off the resin lenses and replaced them with PE lenses.
landman Posted January 24, 2020 Author Posted January 24, 2020 Installed the fifth wheel. Gave it a good smear of first class number 1 fifth wheel grease AKA Permatex gasket sealant.

landman Posted January 24, 2020 Author Posted January 24, 2020 Added foil & wash. Battling with the "glass".
landman Posted January 26, 2020 Author Posted January 26, 2020 Thanks guys. Put evrything back together and now it doesn't sit right.
landman Posted January 28, 2020 Author Posted January 28, 2020 After taking it apart, scratching everything, breaking off the headlights I think I got it.
landman Posted January 28, 2020 Author Posted January 28, 2020 Attempted to make wipers using the KFS basic wiper and some half round for the arm. I will attempt to file the half round to a taper if I can secure the little bugger tight enough.
landman Posted January 29, 2020 Author Posted January 29, 2020 (edited) Thanks Kerry. As I am putting the finishing touches on it I have a question for you experts. Did they have air brakes back then? I imagine they did to stop a trailer with a load, they would have needed brakes on the trailer too. Edited January 29, 2020 by landman
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 That looks great!! Excellent work!! Pat, I'm no expert, but from what I understand many of the strait trucks had hydraulic and vacuum assist but the K-8 and KB-8 road tractors had air brakes. I know that air brakes were available.

Thanks Brian, i'll give it two hoses and a wire. I don't think I'll worry with the chambers at this stage. Would there be a pogo stick or would the connectors hang behind the cab?
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 I've seen some pictures of restored trucks with pogo sticks, but the only original image that I could find looked like the hose were hanging from below the back window on the cab. With it being a short wheelbase worker, I would probably hang them off the cab, but I don't think that either way would be incorrect.
landman Posted January 31, 2020 Author Posted January 31, 2020 Thanks Jeff. So I made a hangerupski for air and electrical connectors behind the cab.
gatorincebu Posted March 6, 2020 Posted March 6, 2020 Pat, That is a sweet looking truck you've built ! Looks real good from way over here ! Be Well Gator
