oldcarfan Posted Sunday at 01:41 AM Posted Sunday at 01:41 AM I finished one project and made good progress on two others. The Nissan is a Tamiya Sylvia that I stripped and rebuilt this week. In other news, I found a box of Gelandewagens I thought I'd lost so I stripped one and have been rebuilding it. 3
meechum68 Posted Sunday at 01:57 AM Posted Sunday at 01:57 AM I put the 1st coat of clear on the Hudson. I put the 2nd coat on the Catalina, and 1st on it's hood. Datsun Sunny has the bed mounted to body, and chassis pretty much done. Will work on the interior next and decals too.
catpack68 Posted Sunday at 11:49 AM Posted Sunday at 11:49 AM Painted the Revell 68 Firebird I’ve been working on late yesterday.Gonna clear it today 3

Works well for me when needed. Thank you for the suggestion hedotwo.
Wickersham Humble Posted Sunday at 07:15 PM Posted Sunday at 07:15 PM (edited) Made this surface-cast resin body platform for an early Y-body Tempest kit that was missing one; turned out four that weren't too bad. Also for my '61 adaptation of the coupe body (to match our 1/1 car) from the 4-door sedan annual kit. The AMT version isn't bad but a total cop-out for the IRS, which the solid resin copy allows some sculpting to make more representative, if not realistic. The dual-exhausts show it to be a '63 issue, the only stockers to have them, with the iron 336-cu.in. V-8. The chassis needs more work, obviously. Only thing added were the wheel-tubs for the rear, made from rat-can caps, as I recall. My adaptation of a later full-sized coupe roof is mostly okay, but a WIP, vs. the real '63 coupe top. I'm still looking for another '61 annual kit, if any are out there! Wick Edited Sunday at 07:17 PM by Wickersham Humble forgot detail 1
catpack68 Posted Sunday at 09:12 PM Posted Sunday at 09:12 PM I cleared several bodies earlier today including the Hasegawa 67 VW Type I started over a year ago. After three failed paint jobs,I will be glad to get this one finished. 3
meechum68 Posted Monday at 02:21 AM Posted Monday at 02:21 AM Lots of stuff, Hudson is fully cleared, will do the trim painting soon. (Will likely mask and brush paint) The Sunny Datsun, a little mock up and it is on its wheels fully, the chassis work is fully done. Interior work is in progress. The Skyline decided once again to be a menace, so I am gonna change my thought process from a flawless paint to a worn paint. 1
JollySipper Posted Monday at 02:37 AM Posted Monday at 02:37 AM Michael man, I had my fingers crossed that the Hudson's paint job would go smoothly for you! The final paint and clear always wracks my nerves to do, but it's very rewarding when things go well......... It looks real good! You should foil it, though! It would be about the same amount of work and will look better..... 2

The Skyline has fought me almost all the way with the color I want on it. I don't have any foil but may have to get some. Cant hurt to learn. Thank you sir! Your right, when things go right it's an amazing feeling! 1 1
Lownslow Posted Monday at 08:11 AM Posted Monday at 08:11 AM Dialing in the laser but now i can punch out some basic awards for some buildoffs 4

Especially on the Hudson. I spent a few relaxing hours yesterday foiling that roadrunner I'm building, very rewarding. Looking forward to the weathering on that Skyline, I think that's a good compromise considering the situation. 👍👍 2
meechum68 Posted Monday at 01:04 PM Posted Monday at 01:04 PM Yeah it is a bit of a bummer, but hey I think it will turn out quite well going with the different look. I should try and get some foil this week.

I order mine directly from BMF, less chance of problems from old age and possible left over "bad batch" stuff. I guess it can degrade over time, wrinkles up and stuff. Good luck if you try it, there's an awesome tutorial pinned here on the site. 1
Lownslow Posted Monday at 07:42 PM Posted Monday at 07:42 PM Had some time to myself before errands so i knocked out the grille for the Honda, its a 3 piece lasercut one off i designed. i was lasy so i used the laser to cut all of it even the mesh 3

johnyrotten Posted Tuesday at 02:43 PM Posted Tuesday at 02:43 PM Time for a quick inventory, Ulf. Hopefully you didn't lose anything.

johnyrotten Posted Tuesday at 10:21 PM Posted Tuesday at 10:21 PM First few coats of paint. Thinking white interior. She's a bit green. 4
johnyrotten Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago Finished the paint. Gonna let it sit a few days and clear it. 1
