I won/bought a Franklin Mint GT350 last night.   It was cheap enough with no box.  Ebay photo below

I also have another one high up on a shelf that I need to get down and compare.   Anyone remember who else made a GT350?   Both are white with blue stripes.   I was thinking Johnny Lightning, but can't find a listing on that one.  Could be M2?

But we'll be comparing in a few days either way.  Should be a fun comparison at any rate.  Maybe end up selling one of them.  No real point in having 2 unless they end up being different enough.  I also have the revellogram plastic built up in blue with white stripes.  Might throw it into the mix just for fun.

Johnny Lightning could have done one; they had a '65 Mustang fastback. I'm pretty sure M2 did 'em. I have an M2 '66 GT350, in dark green with a Paxton supercharger. It's supposedly a rare one. I like it a lot.

About 2 years ago I bought a M2 GT350R at Hobby Lobby and thought it was pretty high at $32, being more used to Wellys and Maistos at the drug store.  I got it home and opened it up and thought how could M2 get it so wrong.  The hood scoop was wrong, the front brake scoops were wrong, the oil cooler scoop was wrong and there were no top stripes. Later I did some research and found that M2 had modeled the prototype version of the GT350R as tested at Riverside.  Now I was happy with it.

Cool.   When mine gets here, I'll have to take the one I have down and see what it really is.   It is 3rd column from right middle car.  Looks like it has a bumper on front.  But I can't see it or reach it without a step stool.  These shelves are over the interior doors in living room.   It's a nice enough car that I didn't mind putting it close to the others.   It MAY BE an M2.   Ebay has some that have SOLD from $18 - $70.   I didn't get a box with mine on that one either and I think it was like $15 maybe?  None like it for sale currently that I saw.

That's a nice one Randy! Recently I bought one of those that was wrecked. Broken front suspension, missing front bumper and sill plates. But I got it for 22.00 with free shipping.... buyer accepted best offer.

M2 made 65 Shelbys including that one based on the prototype. Revell also had a Creative Masters version, but in 1/20 scale.

Nice score!!

Thanks.  Hood looks a bit open.  Have to check it out.  And missing the antenna.  I might fix that.  Or not.  We'll see...

Beautiful Randy, it's amazing how well M2 does on models for their price point isn't it Gary? They look great together.

I am looking forward to putting mine next to the FM.   My M2 is the regular version.   But that 350R does look tempting.   I've always loved that front bumper on those.

M2 has really knocked it out of the park for 64.5-66 Mustangs and Shelby GT 350s. I've got a one off Shelby 350S prototype that M2 replicated in green and is supercharged like the 1:1

I have that one too and agree with you that it's beautiful.

Now that is a new on me that I had not seen before.  Thanks for posting.

This version in Emberglo is really nice as well.

I have one of those too, bought at Walmart. Years ago I built an AMT '66 hardtop in Emberglow; it's one of my favorite Ford colors.

I'm not too sure how accurate the interior colors are on this M2, though. I think someday I'm gonna blow mine apart and paint the interior black.

My FM came in yesterday.  Nice - needed a cleaning like so many do.  Maybe this weekend I can do a side-by-side comparo from all angles.   Both are very nice models.  in my case, I only have about $10 difference in the 2.  The M2 was $20 as part of a deal with free shipping and the FM was $33 with shipping.   Neither have boxes.  I feel certain the FM will be heavier, but with the M2 up on the shelf, it's hard to tell how they will shake out.  And I'm not going to compare them to real specs.  Just compare them to each other and see how they do.  One will likely be sold - do I really need 2?  or a repaint of the M2?  Decals avaialable?  Seems like in the long run, I should sell the M2 and hope the FM goes on up in value?

Don't do it - too many black naugas were killed to make black naugahyde interiors.   To me, black is a cliche' color.  I LOVE 60s cars with interior and exterior same color.  Surely there was the option for that interior.

Yeah, just did the research and guess what, there really was an Emberglow interior option. Only thing is, in a diecast, it makes it look cheap, like the maker just did everything in the same color for frugality. Hmmmmmmm.

Well, ok.  If that's the case, then I would understand a color change.   Molded plastic does look kinda chintzy sometimes.   When I build those from a kit, I paint the body and interior all one color, then gloss/satin/flat everything according to what it needs.   And that one really wouldn't look bad with a black interior if you get various textures going on.
