Scale-Master Posted February 21, 2020 Posted February 21, 2020 It's supposed to be built red/white or yellow/white, but found a blue/white version available in Thailand that appears to use the same decals that come in the kit, so that is what I'm doing.
Scale-Master Posted February 22, 2020 Author Posted February 22, 2020 The engine is as nice as you'd expect from Tamiya.
Scale-Master Posted February 22, 2020 Author Posted February 22, 2020 Yes, all the Tamiya bike kits are gems. The tires are pretty cool.
doggie427 Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 Lovely start Mark. Always enjoy your neat, precise, accurate builds.
peteski Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 Nice! Tamiya does make quality models! Las time I've seen one of these built-up was years ago, at a Tamiya-Con.
Pete J. Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 Very nice Mark! Tamiya does a good job on everything but the darned Phillips head screws! I will never understand why they can't come up with little hex heads. I it's just so jarring to my eye to see everything so well executed except that and they do that on every bike!
Scale-Master Posted February 26, 2020 Author Posted February 26, 2020 This is a brand new kit. It builds a modern Monkey (with fuel injection among other upgrades) not the old one from the '70's. All the large scale Tamiya kits use those screws to some degree now. That's part of what takes me so long to build some of them, machining all new hardware... Sadly once they jump out at you it's what you see first.

Scale-Master Posted March 5, 2020 Author Posted March 5, 2020 All done. Definitely a recommendable kit if the subject is to your liking.
cobraman Posted March 5, 2020 Posted March 5, 2020 Turned out great. Even the cables don't look way out of scale as they do in some kits.
peteski Posted March 9, 2020 Posted March 9, 2020 Looks great Mark! Following your other superb build threads (where you end up rebuilding most of the model's parts), I noticed that this one was build box-stock. Were you taking a break from your usual construction techniques, and build something simpler for a change?
Scale-Master Posted March 9, 2020 Author Posted March 9, 2020 Thanks guys! Pete, I build a lot of box stock kits. Probably a dozen or more a year. I usually have two or more reviews in each SA and they are always "Out Of The Box" plus what I build for other clients.

Scale-Master Posted March 10, 2020 Author Posted March 10, 2020 Since it would not be ethical, I don't share all those models here...
