It's been almost a year, and after revising this thread (while searching for something else) I realized that I never answered your questions about the HT4100 engine in my '85 Eldorado.

No, I have not done anything.  The car is 35 years old,, with around 45,000 miles on it.  By 1985 (the last year of that engine) I hope that they put most of the fixes on it. I just think I'll leave it alone.
