Perspect Scale Modelworks Posted May 4, 2020 Posted May 4, 2020 Hi all. I'm going to put an LS1 engine from the Revell 1999 Corvette in a '61 Impala. Any suggestions on what transmission would make sense and the best place to source one? Thanks
Jantrix Posted May 4, 2020 Posted May 4, 2020 Whats wrong with the six speed that comes with the LS1? That's what I'd want.
Rodent Posted May 4, 2020 Posted May 4, 2020 Because the Corvette has a rear mounted gearbox. Kris Morgan casts some very nice resin conventional transmissions that sell for $3.95 He has both a 700R4 and a T56 available.
Perspect Scale Modelworks Posted May 4, 2020 Author Posted May 4, 2020 Thanks Steve. Placed an order with Kris.

Rodent Posted May 5, 2020 Posted May 5, 2020 Not sure what you ordered, but the T-56 is quite large, as is the 1:1. You might have to modify the tunnel for clearance.
Ace-Garageguy Posted May 5, 2020 Posted May 5, 2020 (edited) A smart thing GM did when they built the LS was to keep the same bellhousing bolt pattern, so pretty much anything that will bolt to a smallblock Chebby will bolt to an LS, and can be made to work (with the right flywheel or flexplate, and sometimes a crank-extension adapter...none of which would be visible on a model). Hopefully one of these shouldn't need much modification.

ScottH454 Posted May 6, 2020 Posted May 6, 2020 I see I'm a day late on this but Action-Modeler also has a few transmissions for that block. I have a Tremec TKO for manual, GM TH400, and GM 4L60E. The TKO has a really nice profile that would be great for small tunnel openings.
