ChrisBcritter Posted May 26, 2020 Posted May 26, 2020 Last night I finished detail painting/weathering the '65 Nova's chassis. I used both Testor's acrylic and enamel paints, and some areas ended up semi-gloss rather than flat. If I give the chassis a coat of Dullcote to even it out, will I get any weird reactions from the acrylic paint? Thanks!
Tom Geiger Posted May 26, 2020 Posted May 26, 2020 (edited) I’ve never had any issues with using Dullcote to flatten / seal in any of my weathering and rust. If you are concerned, spray a little into a small cup and brush some onto the shiny areas Edited May 26, 2020 by Tom Geiger

Dave G. Posted May 27, 2020 Posted May 27, 2020 Two light mist coats and you're done. But if there is any reaction ( probably not) it will more likely be over the enamel than the acrylic, assuming all is well dried.
Rodent Posted May 27, 2020 Posted May 27, 2020 I have done exactly what Chris wants to do. My "steel" and "aluminum" paints are a combination of enamel and acrylics, plus Metalizer. I use them to make different shades on different parts. I agree that a mist coat of Dullcote probably won't cause any issues. The stuff seems pretty tame. That said, follow what the guys above are saying.
StevenGuthmiller Posted May 27, 2020 Posted May 27, 2020 You can use Testors gloss or flat lacquers over pretty much anything. Shouldn't cause any problems whatsoever. Steve
