Gramps46 Posted July 12, 2020 Posted July 12, 2020 Earlier I posted a photo of the Welly Chevrolet tow truck I got in the mail. Tom G. dated the original release back as far as 2003. I decided to convert it back to something looking more original to 1953 and used this link for reference. https://bangshift.com/bangshiftxl/this-1953-chevy-wrecker-is-a-runner-a-driver-and-an-old-school-worker-you-can-own/ I used non-acetone fingernail polish remover to strip off the quirky makings and then proceeded to blacken the wheels and the bright chrome bits. The lettering on the front fenders represent a telephone exchange to call for service. Evergreen 839. If I had experience with weathering the Chevy would have been a good candidate to make a realistic working truck.
Tom Geiger Posted July 12, 2020 Posted July 12, 2020 Here’s another idea for that wrecker bed. Mike Cappasso built this resin 1958 Dodge using that wrecker bed and wheels. Not sure if he used the chassis. These pix taken at Mama’s show back in 2003
