So, far, I bathed all the parts in soap and water and got the body primed and painted (chocolate brown). Currently sanding the finish to get that shine, and have put chrome on the hood. I really hope this one is going to turn out pretty, but with all the curves on the body, I will have some issues of continuity with the finish. Let me know what you think. A friend of mine painted his 1:1 car brown and thought what is he thinking, but when the trim and everything was fitted it looked amazing! This is only my second turn on using the polishing kit, so hopefully it will turn out great. It just takes a LOT of patience to achieve it, especially how curvy this girl is. I was wanting kind of a sleeper hot rod look, so I chose something that I thought wasn't going to be too flashy, but in the end it wound up looking very classy in that color. Husky1943 Posted July 16, 2020 Author Share Posted July 16, 2020 An update. I had some time, so I finished polishing the body in its entirety. Yeah, there are some blemishs, but overall, I am pretty pleased how it came out. Definitely an improvement over the orange peel that I usually have with a paint finish. I did take the paint down to the primer in some places, but delicate touching up will take care of that. Anyway, I appreciate any thoughts or comments. Criticism is also welcome (just remember; twenty years of the USN taught me to be very sensitive while developing a very thin skin).? Pretty much took me several (4+) hours to finish all the chrome, but I like the way that it turned out. I still think muffler tape is the way to go. Husky1943 Posted July 21, 2020 Author Share Posted July 21, 2020 Okay, just an update- Twisted up the plug wiring for both sides of the engine. wrapped them in tape. Installed them. Now, the engine is 70 percent plumbed. Still need to put the selanoid (how is it spelled?) on the port side of the manifold. Then the ancillary wiring (starter, generator, etc.) What do you think? Also (don't know if you can see or not), but I also installed heat-shielding on the block side of the manifolds. Hope you enjoy.
