Thanks, I'll try to catch that.  It's a fascinating subject, especially since I lived in Los Angeles when all that was happening.  The rolling shoot-out between the two cops happened in North Hollywood, very close to where I once lived.

If you can find it, you might like the 2018 movie on the same subject, "City of Lies."  Johnny Depp plays Russell Poole.  That's such a big, complex subject that it was hard to cram into 2 hours but I thought it was well done.  IIRC, due to some weird legal hassle, the movie never got a theatrical release in the U.S.A. Only in Italy, of all places.

Thanks for the recommendation, I have seen "City of Lies", which isn't bad, but as you said the story is far too complex for just two hours. That is why I think it plays out better through the 10 episodes of "Unsolved". The shootout between LAPD officers Kevin Gaines and Frank Lyga is shown in the very first episode, as it was the event that opened the floodgates into the investigation of police involvement with Death Row Records and possibly the murders.

Yeah, we have watched a few episodes. If you are a fan of American Horror Story, you will like it. If you aren't, you won't.

Had some internet problems this week, so so Netflix. Fixed, now, so more episodes in store.

Found this on Showtime today and started watching it. Am about 1/3 in so far. Early on I decided to turn on the closed captioning and am glad I did! I wouldn't have understood half of what they were saying if I hadn't. Unfortunately, for some reason the CC on this movie is the slowest I've ever seen--it's about a full second to two seconds behind the voices. Kind of annoying.

We liked Murder House, Asylum, Freak Show, and Hotel. Not a huge Lady Gaga fan (music), but she is really a great actress.

Okay, I finished it. Very different and creepy. Can't exactly say I "enjoyed" it, but I don't regret the time spent watching it, either. 

About an hour in, I started wondering, "Which one of these people is the witch? Looks like ANY of them could be....."   I wonder if that impression was intentional, or was it just me?

Not sure if its been mentioned yet, but I watched one of their movies the other night called operation finale. Its a factual telling of Israel catching adolph eichmann and is worth a watch

I saw Netflix had Casino Royale available yesterday. Hadn't seen it since it first came out so I watched it again. I hadn't remembered a thing about it, so it was almost like seeing a "new" movie for me. 

Then I watched Quantum of Solace, which I'd never seen before. Man, the Bond movies just keep getting sillier and sillier. The fights, gunfights, and chases are spectacular--or at least I guess they would be if they'd slow 'em down a little so you could actually appreciate what's happening--but the plots get increasingly inane, implausible, and pointless. IMHO the Bond movies hit a peak with Thunderball and have been going downhill ever since. 

Now I'm watching Gran Torino again. That's a pretty good movie. Clint reminds me a lot of my own Late Great Dad. (They're the same age.) 

Then I'm gonna watch Enemy at the Gate again for the third or fourth or fifth time. That's an excellent movie!

I have to agree with most of that.  And had the same impression watching "The Witch."  ALL these people are weird, especially those spooky twins and their goat.

You've probably seen both movies named "Stalingrad" but if not, both are worth watching.  The 1993 German movie is more realistic.  The 2013 Russian flick is more spectacular but also more of a propaganda movie, IMO. It was directed by  Fedor Bondarchuk, who also did the 2005 movie "The 9th Company" about Russian soldiers in Afghanistan.  That one was made with the co-operation of the Russian govt., so has real vehicles like BTRs, HIND helicopters and T-72 tanks...which were never used in Afghanistan, but oh well.  Bondarchuk's father directed the 4-part "War and Peace" back in the 1950's with a running time of about 3 days.

If you can find it, a very realistic and downright harrowing WWII movie is "Come and See."  About the war in Belarus between partisans and the Nazis.

My fav Clint Eastwood movies were the two set on Iwo Jima, they were really well made and the lack of modern style explosions and noise really made them stand out. Nothing wrong with Gran Torino, but the war ones I'd put up alongside schindlers list and saving private ryan

Not a happy camper right now. I've been watching Homeland on Netflix and patiently waiting for the final season to arrive. Apparently the competition here CraveTV bought the exclusive rights to the final season.

It's on Showtimeanytime. Maybe they're keeping it for themselves for a year.
