Well IT'S finally done.  I wanted to replicate my 1:1 car with the 1998 Firebird kit but out of the box this kit won't allow it, but heck it's close enough.  Anyone who really knows the difference between the 2002 and earlier years of this car will notice that the WS6 wheels on earlier cars are different (and the center cap emblems on the 2002 car have the Pontiac logo as opposed to WS6 on the earlier cars).  On this model I also added what would be aftermarket overlays on the Firebird on the front bumper,  on the "Pontiac" on the driver side headlight door and the "Pontiac" script on the rear.  Also, like my real car I put a white shifter ball on the shifter and tinted the rear window.  One other thing about this model, there is no "TransAm" script  on the doors and there is only 1 exhaust outlet so I added the missing tail pipe as directed by Joe (Mustang 1989) who gave me some other pointers having built this same model.

Sooo, here it is!!  The last 2 pictures include a previous TA model I built some time ago to also replicate a 1:1 car I owned.

i looked at one of these awhile back. Was owned by a clueless woman who thought it had an LT1 350 in it. It had the all-aluminum LS V-8. Plus she had been parking next to a concrete wall somewhere and had been opening the driver's side door and had knocked off enough paint to expose the bare steel along the edge of the door.

See where she had it listed for $12,250? The son and i went there to look at it (Tuscon, AZ) and i drove it around the parking lot, then parked it and asked her: "What's the price today?".

Her reply: $14,000. I looked at the kid and said: "Let's go". I had $20K in hundred-dollar bills taped to my lower leg. She never knew. I ended up buying something else.

If it weren't for the way she repeatedly abused the edge of that door without ever learning her lesson i might've tried to swing a deal with her. Too hard to fade in some silver paint though. I went to AZ looking for an LS Firebird Convertible with a manual transmission and i got reeled in by some fool who thought she had a live one. But we took the scenic tour in Tucson afterwards. It seemed like a nice town.

That turned out very well Mike!!! Looks like you dropped the front end a little. Perfect stance and like the effects you added to the Firebird scripts. I thought it was a bummer as well about the TransAm door scripts. I looked for aftermarket emblems for mine but turned up with no results. I've always liked these earlier WS-6 wheels as opposed to the later ones that Pontiac used. Looks fabulous man.

I built this one when it came out.  I still like it - looks better on the shelf than any of the Camaros I built during that time.  Kept the T/A, sold the Camaros.   Yours look great!
