Chariots of Fire Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 In recent weeks this 1/25 scale Class 1000 fire fighting trailer has been under construction. These were built by many manufacturers during WW 2 for the US Army. Power is from a Dodge 6 cylinder gasolene engine with a direct drive to a 500 GPM Hale pump. The trailer carried 1-1/2" and 2-1/2" hose along with a variety of hand tools and equipment. Paint is Master Modeler Olive Drab. Decals are ALPS printed. Engine came from a Plymouth kit and the pump was scratch built. The dolly wheel in front is turned brass, swivels and can be raised out of the way when the trailer is hooked up for towing. Engine cover is also brass. Tires are resin castings. Hose is stained sewing elastic.
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 Awesome work as always! It seems that those engines were used in a lot of applications other than trucks and cars.
CRUSADER2 Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 WOW!!!! that looks so real, excellent work and detailing, the hoses are fantastic, a really top job.
TECHMAN Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 ??? The realism blows me away!!!! As always, first class all the way!!!!! DJ
mikemodeler Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 That is incredible, if I didn't know any better I would say that I was looking at the 1:1! Outstanding work as always.

Plastheniker Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 Modelling at its very best. Perfect paintwork (not totally matte, just a very little shine), perfect merger between paint and decals, a subtile effect on the "brass" parts, incredible details, and, and .... I hope (but I am not so sure) that many modelers can really appreciate your achievements. I do!
Chariots of Fire Posted September 3, 2020 Author Posted September 3, 2020 Thanks to all for the kind comments. It's all a learning process, right? Try something and if it works, great. If it doesn't???well..........do something different! It's what makes modeling fun.
GeeBee Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 What a super little model, just the right amount of sheen on the paintwork, every time you look at it you spot even more little details, what's not to like ?.....
