hedotwo Posted October 5, 2020 Posted October 5, 2020 The bane of my restoration jobs. Even though I know going in that the bombs I pick up for restoration have fabric coverings I still get them. Of the many I've done, I've yet to get a really salvageable result. This one's corduroy and out of a '62 Galaxie. Thought I'd post for a smile from those that suffer the same fate. Not sure what were thinking when we were kids
NOBLNG Posted October 5, 2020 Posted October 5, 2020 Hey, when I started out, I’d have been proud of that job!? The glue is a little sparse in some spots though.?
espo Posted October 5, 2020 Posted October 5, 2020 Guilty as charged. You know in the '60's we really didn't know any better and you didn't always have a buddy with any better idea of how to do a T & R interior. As JollySipper pointed out , the builder actually did a pretty nice job for the time. If they used the old Tube Glue of the time you're in for a lot of interior work on those seats.
hedotwo Posted October 5, 2020 Author Posted October 5, 2020 Like a lot of us, I'm also guilty to have glued fabric into my interiors. Who knew then? Oh, and skirts. That's another subject for another thread.
Tom Geiger Posted October 5, 2020 Posted October 5, 2020 Man! Another bit of our hobby’s past bites the dust!? 10 minutes ago, hedotwo said: Like a lot of us, I'm also guilty to have glued fabric into my interiors. Who knew then? Nothing to be guilty about! That’s the way we did it back in the day! As kids we had no responsibility to protect and preserve kits for future generations. Even the kit product managers of the day had no clue anyone would want any of it past the issue year!
