I would like to build a 1/25 scale model of the slick little scooter covering aluminum Deco Pods built by the Blastolene Brothers. I have considered using a plastic Easter egg but the shape is just not right. Anyone have a suggestion? i already have a couple of the Lambretta scooters from Replicas and Miniatures of Md.for the scooter part. Any help appreciated.

The more I look at the images on the Blastolene Brothers web site of their Deco Pods the more the overall shape reminds me of the gas tank of a mootorcycle. The Resin lambretta scooter I will use for the base builds out to be 2-1/2" overall length so that will be my starting point. I have never built a motorcycle larger than 1/25th scale so I have no idea what tank might work. Any sugestions? Any spare tanks laying around in parts boxes?

Hi Sir!

The Revell Harley chopper line offers most kit with alternate versions of gas tanks: Sportster, Peanut, Mustang, etc. They are about 2 inches long, whatever the scale may be... Some of their alternate rear fenders may also be of interest.

You may also look at blister packs for various lightbulbs... I found surprising uses for them! The Dollar store also has the usual selection of pencil sharpener cases or white corrector tape dispensers. They are usually transparent, akin to styrene, cut and glue easily, and are cheap.

Who knows?

Thanks CT. Looks like I need to visit my local dollar store!

You might be able to start with the Hot Wheels “Santa’s Speedster” fenders. Use a left and right half and join them together. The fenders are made of plastic.

I saw it on eBay a long time ago. I bought 2 or 3 of them. One gave up its fenders for an Art Deco land speed racer project. If you want, I can send a pic later on of a fender “pod” made of two halves of the front fenders.

It’s a work in progress. I used super glue for it. I didn’t know how well a solvent glue would work. The wheel openings are filled with Evergreen sheet styrene. That pinkish part at the front is Renshape. It sands/carves beautifully. The primer is grey and white Tamiya spray can lacquer. I think these fenders have a really nice shape.

The car is also available in orange and white, without Santa or gifts.

Today I learned that airplane wheels wore pants ?

Perfect name for them, you just think they’d call them something more technical-sounding ?

I checked out wheel pants on line, but didn't find any yet suitable for 1/25th scale- about 3 to 3-1/2 inches long actual size.

That size is perfect for my deco pod project as the motivation for these is a scooter and I plan on using the 2" long Lambretta resin kit scooter from Replics and Minatures of Md. Where did you find them with the size shown?
