Fat Brian Posted November 2, 2020 Posted November 2, 2020 I've been thinking about a build that would be appropriate for the 24 hours of Lemons races and figured it might make an interesting community build. Basically the rules are the car must be obtained for under $500. There is an unlimited safety budget and all cars must have at least a six point roll cage, racing seat and harness, and a fuel cell. There is a tech inspection process to confirm the cars safety and access penalty laps for cars that have been modified beyond the spirit of the rules, this is supposed to be a cheap build. For the purposes of this build I would say just be able to come up with a reasonable explanation for the mods you've made, the story of the build is a part of the project. Subject matter is pretty open, there are classes for RWD, FWD, V8, 4 cyl, essentially any configuration. If this gets any traction we'll pin down a start and end date and maybe a judging criteria.
afx Posted November 3, 2020 Posted November 3, 2020 A Google image search for some sense of the cars entered: https://www.google.com/search?q=24+hours+of+Lemons&rlz=1C1GGGE_enUS545US550&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwi41IDToOXsAhUplXIEHQBUAYYQ_AUoAnoECCcQBA&biw=1920&bih=969
otherunicorn Posted November 3, 2020 Posted November 3, 2020 Maybe limit the build to junk from your parts box?
Russell C Posted November 3, 2020 Posted November 3, 2020 Been thinking of doing this combo myself, but on a Toyota S2000 GT, and a bit more sectioned on the Chevy part and with the truck's taillights on the back ...

That's hilarious! my local Modelers club (ACME) just did this as a monthly build challenge back in September! It was a blast. The goal was to take a Junkyard or (really cheap) model and turn it into a drivable build. We had alot of fun with this challenge... Hope you don't mind that I shared the results here... for inspiration of course ?
disconovaman Posted November 3, 2020 Posted November 3, 2020 Here are a few others club members builds...
Tom Geiger Posted November 3, 2020 Posted November 3, 2020 I’d go for it! Gotta start with an old glue bomb!
Fat Brian Posted November 3, 2020 Author Posted November 3, 2020 All of those are great, yeah, just as long as it looks dumpy and home built it should fit the bill.
Fat Brian Posted November 13, 2020 Author Posted November 13, 2020 I got this in the mail yesterday, the Lemon is strong with this one.
