Thought I'd share a good find if you're like me and are always looking for good tape.  I ordered these two rolls from Amazon and they arrived today.  Misleading at first when you look at the package because it's a twin pack but it looks like only one roll was included.  The two are stuck together and need to be carefully separated.  I then put them into their own sealed bags.  I have a current need for this narrow tape and tried out a small piece to see how it adheres and it's great.  Now, to try painting with it.  It sure looks like it'll work good.  1mm is pretty narrow ?

Masking tape or vinyl tape?

The Vallejo is masking.  I have vinyl tapes (Chartpak) also, but they're harder to use in my opinion.  I have Tamiya 2mm tape that I like and it's a resin material.  Good stuff too.

So...did you ever get around to using the Vallejo 1mm tape?  Curious to hear your review.

I've used the Tamiya vinyl tape and thought that it was useless.  It would continually lift off and not stick to anything.

Anyone else use the Vallejo 1mm masking tape?  Can you do curves with it?

Let's hear those reviews!

Yes, I ordered a roll and have used it a few times and was happy with it.  It's a typical paper/crepe masking tape and sticks MUCH better than the narrow Tamiya vinyl, which I agree tends to lift, where the paper Vallejo stays down if applied ok.

Good to hear...because I just got back from my LHS with a pack of 2MM (they didn't have 1mm) LOL.

I know the orange 1mm tape is NOT Tamiya. Maybe Vallejo? It sticks OK, but does not do curves well at all. The white 2mm stuff does curves well, but since it is elastic, it will likely want to lift? I have not actually masked a paint job with either of them. I’ll leave them set for a while and see what happens.

Have you tried using Parafilm? With strips of parafilm down you can overlay it with fine line tape then cut around it. Parafilm is awesome because it does not permit bleed under, it leaves NO residue and the edges can be pushed around or down into cracks such as panel lines. You can also leave it on for MONTHS with no adverse affect on the painted surface. One disadvantage though is due to its inherent flexibility it cannot lay straight lines on its own. But a layer if straight edged tape on the to be masked portion can do that for you.

Photo looks as if it's the yellow tape that's lifting LOL

You know, I never even burnished the yellow tape down properly. I mostly laid it to see if it would curve. I re-set it after your post.

How long was the white tape stuck down before it started lifting?

By the next morning it was lifted…so within hours. Pic taken just now.

I use it for "WALKWAY" stripes other miscellany on aircraft. As indicated on the website, it's available in various widths. I've tested it on car bodies and it allows for a good amount of curvature. Plus, being that the edges are lacquer coated, there isn't any color bleed. Nice, sharp separation.
