TransAmMike Posted December 13, 2020 Posted December 13, 2020 Really enjoying the progress on this Eric. I'm so envious of you guys' that do all the mod's on your models. Gonna be an awesome looking Camaro!!?
Beamerman Posted December 13, 2020 Posted December 13, 2020 Stunning Car. I love it. Great work so far...
dino246gt Posted December 13, 2020 Posted December 13, 2020 Great work so far, love the mini-tubs and the front inner fenders raised! That engine looks just right in there as well!
Quiet Eric Posted December 13, 2020 Author Posted December 13, 2020 Thanks all! Had equal amounts of free time and motivation today to tackle the back half. I didn’t intend to do this but found it to be the best way. More room for a proper 4-link. Will add a fuel cell between the rails. Also roughed in the dripped spindles so the front is at least “rolling” now. 1
Dennis Lacy Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 Nice update! That’s some bitchin’ frame, floor and wheel well work!!! 1
Quiet Eric Posted July 7 Author Posted July 7 I made a little more progress on this one a few years ago...some stuff in primer. I actually tried painting the body too but had some poor results and had to start over. I think it's still in a basecoat, with pearl yellow being the end goal. 4
Quiet Eric Posted Saturday at 03:25 PM Author Posted Saturday at 03:25 PM (edited) Got a pretty cool spray booth setup to help control fumes and overspray. I had much better luck painting the Camaro this morning than I did with my GTO project, but at least one of them turned out well. First I sprayed it Daytona Yellow, then yellow pearl over that though its hard to see in the pictures. Paint from Scale Finishes. It might get the lightest of color sanding to remove a small amount of trash before clear. I thought it was going to be too light of a shade, and it's still lighter than I was planning on but I do like it. Edited Saturday at 03:26 PM by Quiet Eric 2
NOBLNG Posted Saturday at 03:31 PM Posted Saturday at 03:31 PM Now that’s got some ATTITUDE!😎 Nice work so far.👍 1
espo Posted Saturday at 04:17 PM Posted Saturday at 04:17 PM Been thinking about building something like this and using a Pearl Yellow color so I'm interested in how your paint work turns out. Like the way you did your back-half on the chassis. 1
Quiet Eric Posted yesterday at 05:39 PM Author Posted yesterday at 05:39 PM (edited) Thanks for all the comments everyone and for following along! Paint has had 24 hours to cure some it was time for a mock up. I'm pretty stoked with how it turned out. Now I have to wrap up all the chassis and engine stuff (mostly just paint details and a couple rear suspension items). Also need to work on the interior, it'll just be some passing form of grey tweed, not going crazy with any major modifications there. I'm going to try out some 2k clear for the first time so the body will be waiting around a while until I have enough cars to paint at once. Edited yesterday at 05:40 PM by Quiet Eric 4
NOBLNG Posted yesterday at 06:56 PM Posted yesterday at 06:56 PM One thing I wound up doing on mine was separating the front subframe/engine from the floor and installing it after the floor pan was in place because I had glued the front and rear valences in place before painting.
