59 Impala Posted November 26, 2020 Posted November 26, 2020 I got this car from e-bay and I'm going to try and restore it. There is a lot of work that needs to be done. I have made the 8 lug wheels, boot, tail lights and the piece that goes between the grills. i also made the windshield frame. It is crazed from lacquer paint and that should be no problem or maybe a tad. I have painted a 63 Impala that was crazed and it turned out ok. Here are some pics of what I've done so far.
Carmak Posted November 26, 2020 Posted November 26, 2020 Cool project! Did you 3D print the windshield frame pieces?
59 Impala Posted November 26, 2020 Author Posted November 26, 2020 Thanks Craig. I use fingernail resin to make the parts. I made a mold of another 62 and then used the resin to make the parts. Here are some pics of the way I did the mold and parts.

59 Impala Posted November 27, 2020 Author Posted November 27, 2020 Thanks Craig, I've been able to save quit a few cars this way, and I enjoy fixing them.
59 Impala Posted November 28, 2020 Author Posted November 28, 2020 Thanks Carl. I just love trying to restore broken and glue bomb cars.
59 Impala Posted December 1, 2020 Author Posted December 1, 2020 Here are a couple of pics of the Pontiac so far. I used BMF under the paint and you can see it on the picture with the primer on the car.
59 Impala Posted December 1, 2020 Author Posted December 1, 2020 Thanks Brian. How are you and your wife doing these days? I haven't been to any meetings since March this year because of the virus. There hasn't been much going on in the club this year because of it. I hope that we can do more next year. This is driving me nuts. The only thing that keeps me sane is working on the models. I just like to rebuild or fix glue bombs. Take care and stay safe.
espo Posted December 1, 2020 Posted December 1, 2020 I have been following your build and like how you repaired the windshield posts. My question has to do with the color. Did you use Hugger Orange ? or something close.
59 Impala Posted December 1, 2020 Author Posted December 1, 2020 Thanks David. I used Boyd's Sunburst enamel sprayed over the flat Black.
59 Impala Posted December 1, 2020 Author Posted December 1, 2020 Got the chrome on. I used the Molotow pen for most of the trim.
Sam I Am Posted December 1, 2020 Posted December 1, 2020 You did a great job with the restoration. I can hardly wait to see it finished.
59 Impala Posted December 2, 2020 Author Posted December 2, 2020 Thanks guys. I need to finish the interior, chassis and engine now.
59 Impala Posted December 6, 2020 Author Posted December 6, 2020 A small update. I mocked it up to check how she will look.
59 Impala Posted December 6, 2020 Author Posted December 6, 2020 I posted the finished pics in under glass. This was a real fun rebuild for me.
