Daddyfink Posted December 12, 2020 Posted December 12, 2020 So, you take an Airfix 1/24 P-51 Mustang and a Revell '40 Ford.....
Oldcarfan27 Posted December 12, 2020 Posted December 12, 2020 That's just wrong on sooo many levels. But I'll bet that thing could fly!!!!
peteski Posted December 13, 2020 Posted December 13, 2020 (edited) Now who will be the first to model that? As mentioned, a 1:24 scale aircraft is available (but it likely will be rather pricey, and most model car builders are pretty tight when it comes to spending money). This would even make a decent rat-rod! Edited December 13, 2020 by peteski

This would even make a decent rat-rod! Trumpeter also makes a 1/24 scale P-51D Mustang. I found one at a flea market, with a lot of glue-bombing. But it was cheap and I bought it for the parts, decals etc. So anybody wanting to build the Mustang-Mobile might get lucky. Some reviewers love the Trumpeter Mustang, and others hate it. One interesting thing: it comes with 3 1/24 scale resin figures, all of them molded in one piece.

ChrisBcritter Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 (edited) And now... The rest of the story. From the Pantagraph, Bloomington, IL, September 14, 1947: Clem Gibson became a pretty successful stock car racer in the Bloomington area in the 1950s; from what I could glean from the Newspapers site, he passed away sometime between 1990 and 2005. That body would be worth quite a penny today. Thanks for posting the story.
stavanzer Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 A great comparison of the relative sizes of both machines. That is only a small chunk of P-51, yet is is almost bigger than the car.
Brian Austin Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 Cool pictures. It may not necessarily be pretty, but it sure is pretty unique! There have been a number of small aircraft fuselages turned into automobiles, and more than one DC-3 has been turned into an RV.
