a star shape and a dark dot

I placed an ad under parts wanted and along side my request is a star while I see many black dots in the same topic section  - What is the difference ? - Did I word something

If you have looked at the thread before, klik on the star or dot it takes you to the first post made since you last looked at that thread.

Dot if you haven't made a post in the thread, star if you made the thread or have posted in it.

I knew what the black dot meant, but never spent too much time thinking  bout the meaning of that star.

BTW, this section is for modeling related Q&As - this thread really belongs in the "How To Use This Board" section. I have asked moderators to move it.

They both mean the same thing, there are posts in that particular thread that you have not read. Click on it and it will take you to the first unread post. The star just means that you have posted a comment in that thread.

FYI - You can hover your mouse over most things on this board and it will tell you what it does.
