NOBLNG Posted December 31, 2020 Posted December 31, 2020 I am looking for possible donors for nice differentials for GM full size trucks. The first pic is from the Revell GMC with snowplow kit. They’re not too bad, but they’re hollow. The rear is a 14 bolt full floater, and the front is a D-44 I believe. The very nice D-44 front on the left is from the Moebius F-100 and I have already cast it. My thought if I can’t find better ones is to re-work these and then make a mold of the center sections so I can re create them for future projects. The second pic is a 12 bolt truck rear from the Crew Chief Blazer and a scale drawing of what the diff cover should look like. Any info or leads appreciated. Thanks.
Plowboy Posted December 31, 2020 Posted December 31, 2020 How about the differentials from the AMT/MPC '84 GMC? I built that kit several years ago. But, can't recall them exactly. I do know they're not open like the Monogram pieces.
Danno Posted December 31, 2020 Posted December 31, 2020 Oh. When I saw the title of the thread, I couldn't open it fast enough. Not what I expected. ? ??
gman Posted December 31, 2020 Posted December 31, 2020 I just punched the title of your thread into a Google image search...you know, for the purpose of tracking down a source. Yeah, that's it! ? Surprisingly, my search did turn up this thread: I don't know how easy it'll be to track down the MPC Deserter kit- Hobby Lobby had some my last trip south of the border (pre-COVID), but no idea if it is still stocked and fits the bill for your build.
