On a related note, the latest issue of FineScale Magazine has an article about building the AMT Jeep.  That one had those Desert Dog tires too. Was the AMT version just a reissue of the MPC Jeep?  Are the Desert Dogs in that kit the larger ones?

Not sure which Jeep was referred to in the FSM article, but the Stevens International reissue of the MPC Jeep Commando was released under the AMT label in 200...6(?), like so. This kit DOES include the larger diameter Formula Desert Dog PCV tires:

Thanks Ralph.  These look like copies of the original (smaller) tires.  I guess I can ask, but if they were the bigger Desert Dog copies, those would be too large for my model.

Have you tried your wheel in a set of Monogram Good Year Trackers?

What do those look like? Do you have a photo?

No, I don't have a photo of them. Just search for any Monogram 4x4 and you'll see them.

OD at the bead? I measured it at the edge of the tread.

A also measured the tread width. It is 0.400".

I measured the smaller tire I have, and the O.D. measures 1.265" or so:

Tread width measures ~.390".
