Ferrari GTO book

Was thinking of getting a book about the legendary Ferrari 250 GTO.  Several have been published, was checking out what is available.  I'm surprised about the price of some, but this one is insane!  And you need to know French.

Anyone have one of the other books, to give a quick review or opinion about?

Considered that one.  There are some cheap books, but you get what you pay for.

I used to get photo books about cars I wanted to model. Sometimes I would actually borrow them from my town's library. More than once the library would borrow the book for me from another library. That was before Internet.  Now a quick Google (or Duck Duck Go) search brings up hundreds of online photos and other references. No need for books anymore. At least for me. Unless you want a book for more than just reference photos.

Porter Press also does one of their “car biographies” on Chassis 2153 GT,

This series usually has a good general model history as well as detail on the life of the specific car. It’s quite a bit cheaper as well.

Porter also has what they claim will be “the definitive” 250 GTO book coming up later this year, but that’s going to be £450... mind you, better than paying more for an older book!

Not disagreeing.  In the case with the Auto Union C, the book I got was good for reading, but no help for building the model.  For the Audi Quattro S2, I splurged on a little book via Spot Model, it will be helpful.  The reason I started this topic, was to find out if any books are worth it, since not every picture is found online.

Thank you.   I got the Auto Union book from Abe Books.

I'm undecided which car to build.  This FERRARI 250 GTO Anniversary Hardcover – January 24, 2017 looks like more than a bio about one or more cars, but covers an event. All in one package, vs. looking all over the internet, that's what I am evaluating.

It's not a traditional Haynes "Owners Maintenance Manual"... I don't have this one, (yet) but I have around 30 others in the same series, and they are a really good combination of development history, "anatomy of" (usually based on a restoration workshop dismantled vehicle), chassis histories and driver and engineer interviews. IMHO, they usually have everything you need to build a model, and most of what you need to decide which one you want to build...

Plus at £12.50, it's a LOT cheaper than anything else you'll find easily...

Thank you Matt!  Something about Nick Mason.....  I've seen a photo of one during a race with damage, not that #40, but nevertheless thought it would be fun to do a model of it "weathered".

Happened upon this video, of a resto-rod GTO.  Sucks for reference, but shows why I prefer books.
