I built my first model in the summer of 67 at the age of 10, pretty much been at it ever since, never had one beat me, and since my 34 altered is whipping my back-side I decided to start another project. This is based on the Monogram 33, the plan is to build it like it would have been built in the early 60's using only kits available pre 1967, so here is what I have so far, and lets hope I don't have two failures in a row..

P.S. any suggestions on speed parts from kits that fit the pre 67 date will be greatly welcome. Thanks

Looks like you are off to a good start.

I like your theme of pre 1967 parts. Would that include the actual kit or just the kit's subjects year model ? Stay with the Flathead engine and harvest Heads and multi Carb. setups from the AMT '49 Mercury kit or their '50 Ford convertible kit. Revell had a very nice Flathead engine in their '40 Ford pickup as well. There are some kits with Flathead equipment that were released after 1967 that offer a lot of great parts as well. Maybe the Arden Head version from the '50 Ford pickup or some of the '48 Ford kits that had some real nice flathead stuff as well as Revell's '32 Fords plus their Quick Change rear ends as well if you use kits issued after 1967.

Yes, the actual kit has to have been released before 67, BUT!! will use parts from those kits that have been rereleased.. would most likely have trouble finding "original" parts. That flathead in the pic is from the 40 kit, I'm still early into this, so it might change. But I have decided that I want it to appear as though it was built back then, might even try my handle at a corduroy interior!!

Bill, thanks. Been following your build..

Robert, a very period speed part for the flathead was a 4 carb manifold. However, one was never kitted, and no one in the aftermarket makes one either, so you would have to scratchbuild one.

An under appreciated kit piece, the Latham blower from the Amt T kit, I know @Dennis Lacy built one up for a flathead and his looked pretty darn good!
I’m not sure if you are planning to run a full hood or not?
