rhammer2003 Posted February 5, 2021 Posted February 5, 2021 Hello All, with Scale auto mag Gone now and the availability of the first 35 years of the Mag on DVD, is there any plans for the final issues from 2014 to present to be added to the DVD or maybe a Digital Update? anyone know? Thanks Hammer
Xingu Posted February 5, 2021 Posted February 5, 2021 That would probably be a question for those at Scale Auto, Fine Scale Modeler or their publishers. We have nothing to do with them and wouldn't know what their intentions are.
tim boyd Posted February 6, 2021 Posted February 6, 2021 They did issue a follow-up DVD with the next five years on it. I'm sure you can find it on the Kalmbach website.... TIM

TIM The 5 year collection was advertised for sale in the June 2020 issue of Scale Auto so I assume those 2014-2018 issues and 5 years of Contest Cars were scanned and the DVD made but when I contacted Fine Scale I was told only the first 30 years was available. If the scans were indeed made it seems ridiculous and a big waste that a DVD would not be made available because I am sure there would be sales. The only positive thing I can say about the situation is that there is a good Mark Jones article in the current FSM. Attachments area
maxwell48098 Posted February 6, 2021 Posted February 6, 2021 Unlike the previous 35 year DVD, the recent 5 year update IS NOT searchable. You have to scroll through each issue. A.J.

And there was some other difference I can't recall exactly....maybe that it did not copy the contents to my hard drive meaning that I had to dig out the DVD each time I wanted to use it??? Not entirely clear on the above discussion, but they did produce the 5 year update as I bought a copy for myself. I would be very surprised if it is not available somewhere on the Kalmbach website.....TIM

This item is out of stock and has been discontinued. Unfortunately, the only Scale Auto DVD ROM we have available is the "Scale Auto: First 35 Years DVD ROM".

Roncla Posted February 7, 2021 Posted February 7, 2021 (edited) I've got the first 35 year DVD loaded on my IMac running OS Mojave 10.14.6 and all is fine but its not compatible with later Mac OS. Kalmbach's Hobby Store does advise of this issue in their advert. Edited February 7, 2021 by Roncla

I figured they’d be PDFs like their regular downloadable content
Motor City Posted February 7, 2021 Posted February 7, 2021 I thought you could press the Control (Ctrl) and F keys simultaneously to bring up the search box in the upper right corner of any pdf file?
Rob Hall Posted February 7, 2021 Posted February 7, 2021 The app w/ the PDFs works fine on my Mac. I can't open the PDFs directly outside the app (they are password protected).
