FLHCAHZ Posted February 28, 2021 Posted February 28, 2021 Here we go again! I tried scribing the panel lines and washing them in black. May have been too dark. Going with a custom yellow on this one Super happy with the way the paint laid down. Can’t wait to polish this out.
Dragonhawk1066 Posted February 28, 2021 Posted February 28, 2021 The wash looks about right to me. Are you going stock or custom? That is a great kit, I've done two of them and have two more to build.

Your Trans Ams are looking great! I picked up the 1/16 79 TA today
gotnitro? Posted February 28, 2021 Posted February 28, 2021 Very nice washing the panel lines look good

FLHCAHZ Posted March 1, 2021 Author Posted March 1, 2021 (edited) I think I’m going to go with kind of a sleeper look on this kit. I finished detaining the grill And am working on the engine Edited March 1, 2021 by FLHCAHZ
bisc63 Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 Cool start, that yellow looks almost exactly like GM's Butternut Yellow on my screen. It looks nice on the Z!

Thank you. The Butternut Yellow was what I was going after. I think its going to look good with white Super Sport stripes.
TransAmMike Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 Great start Chaz my friend. You sure are getting a "production line" going on model builds!! I assume that plug wire question on the other thread is maybe applying to this build. You know where to PM me if you need any other help with that.

I saw your response in the other thread. I'm gong to have to look around to see if I have an appropriate drill bit.
slusher Posted March 2, 2021 Posted March 2, 2021 Nice yellow paint and engine is looking good. I like where your builds good..
FLHCAHZ Posted March 5, 2021 Author Posted March 5, 2021 (edited) Slow progress, but moving forward! I tried to polish the body too soon, and had to strip and repaint. It happens. Right? i have the engine built, I was going to try o wire this one, but still waiting on the drill bits The interior is buttoned up I always touch up the steering wheel after the dash is in The chassis is well on it way some detailing done on some engine compartment components Edited March 5, 2021 by FLHCAHZ
TransAmMike Posted March 5, 2021 Posted March 5, 2021 Thats coming along great Chaz. Very nice job on the engine. Sounds like you ordered drill bits. Trust me, they come in handy for a whole lot of applications.

I think I’m going to re coat the body in future again and let it sit before I try to buff it out again. Always learning....

AMT68 Posted March 5, 2021 Posted March 5, 2021 These are nicely detailed kits throughout. Nice work on the engine and I feel your pain about buffing through the base coat as I've done it more times than I care to remember.

FLHCAHZ Posted March 7, 2021 Author Posted March 7, 2021 Slight progress update. I have all the sub assemblies finished. Re coated the body with another coat of future and stripped and repainted the hood. I’m going to let these sit for a week or so before I try to polish them out

But I gotta say, I do it the opposite. I lay the tape down as a guide first, foil over it, trim along the edge of the tape then peel off the tape. Don't forget to burnish it down good tho.
