BIGTRUCK Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 Started on this Revell 90s issue of the Miss Deal and started by removing most of the chrome plating. The engine block had gaps as well as the intake, and I dont even know where to start talking about the way the headers fit?. I know its old technology so I work around such things, but why do model companies make chrome parts that need to be joined. This will be mostly done just like the box art.....kind of. 1
cobraman Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 One of my favorite old kits. I have used that chassis on many models. i have never used the headers in the kit I always find some gasser headers that work. I will be checking in. Good luck with model.
Tom Geiger Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 (edited) I was warned about the headers so never attempted them! I used headers from my parts box that weren't perfect, but fit. My blower scoop (on two kits!) had a big depression on top so I had to find a replacement. Edited March 9, 2021 by Tom Geiger
wrenchr Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 The story behind that kit is to cool. How it came to be. The build is looking cool as well.
BIGTRUCK Posted March 10, 2021 Author Posted March 10, 2021 Yes Ray and Tom I almost aborted the idea of these 5 piece headers. Everything indicates they stay inside the frame rails, but the box art on the side of the box and the body cut-outs said over the rail but they still didnt hit the spot right where they needed to be . I made a little attachment out of a piece of Evergreen plastic angle and will paint it the block color, when tucked in you wont notice it. They are still away from the exact area on the body but I'll take it. With seam lines and mold lines fixed up its time for paint. 1

wrenchr Posted March 10, 2021 Posted March 10, 2021 The body was in the works and AMT beat them to the punch, this was how revell used it. The finishing was not done on the mold for the body so when the drag car came into play didn'tt bother finishing it and left stuff like door lines out. It is in the revell book by Thomas Graham.

BIGTRUCK Posted March 11, 2021 Author Posted March 11, 2021 Chassis completed everything fits well after a few alterations. The headers are are good as they will ever get. Found a parts box shoulder harness and made up a lap belt . Dash detail was pretty weak so just added a few guage decals. Painting the body should be straight forward Miss Deal colors. 1
Painted Black Posted March 11, 2021 Posted March 11, 2021 Awesome kit!! Yours is looking real fine, I used a set of Polar Lights funny car headers on mine way back in 05. 1

I was determined to get these to work and for the most part (and an adaptor I cobbled up for both sides) it came out fine. I cleared the body early today, should all be completed by the weekend. Never saw one in gold, looks good. Edited March 11, 2021 by BIGTRUCK
cobraman Posted March 11, 2021 Posted March 11, 2021 Looking good ! Body fits good with those headers ?
