Olle F Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 (edited) Ok, it has been a long time in the making, but here it is: Have been struggling with different other projects (work out of state, new kitchen, A/C installaton, misc. gun projects etc.) but I finally got it done. Here is the build thread: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=5585 BTW #1: I found a neat way to make the rear view mirrors look better. I was digging around in my PE-collection and found some rings that fit perfectly on the mirrors, so I simply glued them on with some Crystal Clear. This was an easy detail to add, and made the mirrors look way more realistic than just a flat surface, IMO. BTW #2: Sorry for the lousy pictures. Still have to learn how to use this new camera... plastikfreek Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 Beautifully executed! I read all of the pages in the other thread, and I must say that you left no stone unturned on this build...... This is a truly beautiful build!
Randy Kern Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 (edited) Incredible build and detailing! That really came out beautiful. Your subtle reworking of the rear window trim looks a lot better. The engine shots also look like the real thing. This sure brings back memories of my first car. Great job! Edited November 30, 2008 by randbugeye
Hillbilly Deluxe Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 Beautiful build Olle!!! Thanks for sharing and also with the help on my 62 Bel air.
george 53 Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 Beautiful build Olle! my old High school girlfreind's parents had this same car with a 283/powerglide combo an it ran pretty good for bein a big ol boat with a small V-8. Great, clean build! Brings back ALOT of memories!
62SS Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 Absolutely stunning build of one of the best looking Impalas ever produced. Your detail work is second to none. Fantastic job. Two thumbs up!!! Ed
Raul_Perez Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 The detail work in the engine compartment is EXCELLENT!! Thanks for sharing,
cruz Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 I clearly remember this build a few months back, you are a very talented modeler. Please make sure to work around your photo sharing skills, your models are surely worth it, this is really awesome!!!
Modellpularn Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 Hej Olle. I'm happy to see you finished the Impala, and it looks great, my friend! I've said it before, the seats are my favorite part of this build. Looks like really old expensive heavy English armchairs.....
tuffone20 Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 WOW very nice job!! That car looks show room new!!
Robert Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 That's a great looking 65 Impala SS. My best friend had one years and years ago. I remember flipping it over a couple of times for him. Oddly, it still ran, but, of course was pretty much totaled. Thanks for the memories.
Olle F Posted December 2, 2008 Author Posted December 2, 2008 Thanks for the kind comments, guys! I sure appreciate it, especially since this is the only build I have been able to finish this year. Look out for the next one around 2010-2011 or so. Hej Olle. I'm happy to see you finished the Impala, and it looks great, my friend! I've said it before, the seats are my favorite part of this build. Looks like really old expensive heavy English armchairs..... Hej Hasse! The "leather" finish was actually kind of a mistake. I was going for a vinyl look, but picked a pastel powder that turned out to be much darker than I intended. I was going to wipe it off and try again, but then I thought: "Hey, a free upgrade to leather ain't that bad!" so I left it like that. In hindsight, I'm glad that I did.
MyBradKeselowski Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 that is as beautiful masterpiece looks like it just left the factory with new car smell. WOW
MarkJ Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 Beautiful build and Awesome detail under the hood!!
