What I find interesting and strange is when you see another person’s opinion of the “best” whatever and you think it’s a lousy choice. The first time I remember having that thought was during my early teens and seeing some of the girls my friends thought were hot.

HAHA! Agreed though, the differences in opinions is always fascinating. To see what produced such opinions is equally fascinating though.

Three that stick in my mind as my all-time favorite builds, and ones that I want to make my own heavily-influenced-versions-of would probably be, in no particular order…

@tim boyd’s stretched out T primer rod - I’m not going to post a photo without his permission but here’s a link to a shot of it: https://public.fotki.com/funman1712/tim-boyds-124th--12/boyd-street-rods-ra/boydstreetrodsratro/dsc0122.html

Closely tied with his little blue blown “Olds Rod” that used a Beverly Hillbillies Oldsmobile body to make the Oldsmobile version of a T-bucket…can’t find a pic of that one right now ?

@John Teresi‘s take on the Iron Lung showrod (build thread below):

And Pat Covert’s 3-window Deuce converted to a roadster from twenty-plus years ago:

Excuse the poor pic, couldn’t find a good shot of it online…

So many builders inspire me though and I’m constantly seeing cool build ideas - and the really REALLY good ones stick in my mind years and years after seeing them - and I’ll eventually collect the parts to build my tribute to all of them!

There's one WIP that I find quite excellent (and if I know the builder, it will always be a WIP....LoL! ) and that's Mr. Engwer's molded-in-blue Monogram '53 Chevy that's He's thrown a bunch of customizing at......... I saw it in the WIP forum's mock-up topic, I believe. Maybe He'll post a pic for us?

Pat Ganahl's 32 coupe just looks so good, the impressive thing is he built it in the 50s. The body lines and the fenders just flow together so well. The funny thing is he said he didn't ad any headlights because he couldn't find a way without ruining the flow of the lines of the car.Screenshot_20240516_212716_Chrome.thumb.jpg.c3be97713f4e4bf3ec1b37fb3296fe36.jpgScreenshot_20240516_212727_Chrome.jpg.a7de575441f65c9a5e2cb030272d87db.jpgScreenshot_20240516_212734_Chrome.jpg.23494b5688b83d646c8ce6ad64ec127a.jpgScreenshot_20240516_212741_Chrome.jpg.61901127e970a75b0737c048d16553d9.jpg

I appreciate the mention. Glad you like it. I like it too.

But it's so far from finished it takes somebody with more-than-average vision to get it.

If I live long enough...

No question in my mind that our very own Yuri Andryushenko, (yura1961) consistently builds some of the best, most realistic looking models that I've ever seen!

Unfortunately, many of his photo links appear to be broken, but what I have seen from him on a routine basis has been absolutely amazing!!!

Simply the finest model of anything in any scale I've ever seen to date is Bill Cunningham's scratchbuilt 1/24 Birdcage Maserati.

Not only has Mr. Cunningham mastered all the traditional modeling skills, including carving masters, but he's gone on to embrace 3D design and printing, and has developed methods to allow him to print 1 millimeter thick body shell parts...and he keeps improving.

The Maser has to be seen in person to be fully appreciated.

Found it!

What a killer build - I love the use of an Olds engine to tie it together…
