I have been thinking of picking up the Revell Snap 1957 Chevrolet Bel-Air, but I want to do it stock.  I have a set of the stock wheels from the AMT 1955 Chevrolet Bel-Air around here someplace. Are they the same?

If they're not the same (I suspect not), you should be able to post for them in the Wanted section here and find a set from the AMT '57 Chev. MANY of us here have never used those. (If I knew exactly where mine are, I'd offer you mine right now.)

Are you going to build your model with the wheels lug nuts exposed ? The '55 Chevrolet wheels should represent the '57 wheels as they are both 5 lug wheels. Now in full scale the '55's wheels are 15" diameter and the '57 wheels were the first year for the 14" wheels. In our model world the 1" difference doesn't seem to appear that I can tell. Another source for a factory appearing wheel would be the Revell '56 Chevrolet kit. The Revell '57 Black Widow 150 two door model has a 6 lug wheel that was correct for the subject it represents but not for the everyday passenger car of that time.

Thanks for all the input, guys.  I appreciate it.

Rusty, there was a snap stock 1957 Bel-Air?  Didn't know that.  I remember from the thread where the AMT 1957 Chevrolet Bel-Air was getting bashed (by a particular member who will remain nameless) that several kits were discussed, but I don't recall that one.

Thank you for the offer, Richard.  I appreciate it.

Good information, David.  Thank you.

Jim. Look for either one of these two. Most likely to be found on Ebay. As both are stock copies.  I also bought and built both of these, and they are in my 57 Chevrolet collection.

The black copy will be a tad easier to find over the pre-decorated Turquoise and white one. Took me quite a few years to get that pre Dec'd Turquoise and white copy. Model round up may have one or the other.

My Hobby Lobby has the black one and  I bought mine there last week. With the 40% "All Models" sale was $15 with the tax.

That would be the newest reissue which don't include stock wheels, and only has the custom ones. Basically it's the same as their red issue but in Black.

Jim, are you still looking for stock '57 wheel covers? I have a set from the Monogram 1/24. I can't guarantee they'll fit whatever 1/25 tires you plan to use, but they're yours if you want them.
