1950 New York street scene - great trucks from "The Old Motor" website

Great looking photo. I like seeing some of the models that were still around at that time. IE: the Kiser next to the Chevrolet in the front row. Looks like a De Soto getting ready to turn left. The cab looks like one of the commercial long wheel base models that De Soto offered. The blue car in the next lane looks like a '50 Studebaker and another earlier model Study in maroon also. See the Packard behind the Buick at the top of the picture ? They are all in the drab post war colors.

What a cool photo!!!!!! Any idea what those buildings on the right are???

Those are trolley kiosks - all but one of those were removed from that bridge (which is the Queensboro / 59th St bridge) when they stopped running the trolleys in the late fifties.  There’s an interesting article on them here:

They’re really beautiful - and over 100 years old now.

Here’s that same place today:

You get a better view from the cable car across the street, which is a fun activity to do if you’re ever in the area (and you can use your regular Metrocard to ride it as if it’s a bus or train)
