Gregg Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 Jairus and I have started a new challenge: The new Revell 1/12 Chopper. Jairus has the Wild Aces and I have the Crusader. Our deadline is the NNL West February 3, 2007
Ron L Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 Hmm I hope I make it this year, and I'll even try building one of those. My cousin had the nerve to have her wedding during last year's NNL West.
Jairus Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 Dear readers, this is an open invitation for all modelers to join us in a Nationwide Biker build off. Gregg and I will each start our own threads demonstrating our progress until done. We hope to have many bikes done by the NNL West. So Gregg, how are you going to build this winter, Hmmmmmm?
BIGTRUCK Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 Is this a online build for those of us that wont make it out west [i'm old and slo'] if so I'll crack one open....
Ken Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 I probably should pay attention to my sig line... what the heck! Count me in!!! Got the crusader and needed a reason to pull it out
Gregg Posted September 20, 2006 Author Posted September 20, 2006 Here is my first shot. I cut 1/4" off the bottom of the tank, and sanded/rounded the bottom There is a dimple on the end of the tank, that was done quite by accident, but it looks perfect. It makes the tank fit down over the frame better. The seat will also get lowered. The handle bars have been shortened, but did it after shot this pic.
PatRedmond Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 I'm stalled around HERE right now... Actually, the frame is now sanded and painted Light Gunmetal.
Steve D. Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 Well I happened by the hobby section of my local Wally world a couple of weeks ago and whats this ? New motorcycle kits from Revell ? Maybe I should build one up for the Cape Cod show in a couple of weeks , yeah thats what I'll do . Well Steve how did it come out ? You know that there are two different kits and that there are two different versions of each kit ? Well halfway thru the build-up I thought (a dangerous thing) what the heck I might as well build both versions so back to Wally world I went....... So here it is the night before the show and I'm putting the final touches on the FOURTH ONE . I don't know what happened it's all kinda fuzzy but I HAD to build all the versions . Does anyone know if they are planning any more ? , not that I would start building them in the next ten minutes or anything . If you get the impression I like these kits , your right . Something like this has been long overdue . PLEASE make the parts on any new releases interchangeable with these kits and they will absolutely fly off the shelves . My next project is figuring out how to post pics on the web Well take care and see you around the clubhouse , Steve D.
Gregg Posted September 25, 2006 Author Posted September 25, 2006 Four more coming. I think the Revell site has the info as well. We are doing full feature on them Use the Add image to post link under the posting box to add images
Steve H. Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 Of Course, Count me in! I'll even put aside a special table at the NNL West for the choppers, if we think there will be enough on display.
Mr. Metallic Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 Four more coming. I think the Revell site has the info as well. We are doing full feature on them Use the Add image to post link under the posting box to add images FOUR coming? I thought only two more, the Gambler and the Fireball. Do you have inside info?
Jairus Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 FOUR coming? I thought only two more, the Gambler and the Fireball. Do you have inside info? Of course he has inside info, he's the editor of MCM isn't he? 8)
Mr. Metallic Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 The next two in the series, I believe, are called the "Torch" and the "Bone Daddy." I think they may have changed the names to Gambler and Fireball to be released in October,or maybe they are the additional 2 Greg was refering to. According to Gregg, there will be a total or 6 kits(Crusader, aces wild, "fireball, "gambler" and 2 more? I'm getting confused and excited at the same time. Can't wait for the official announcement from "RCHTA" in a couple weeks.
Mr. Metallic Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 The Gambler and Fireball were announced just a couple of weeks ago. Yes, but they were announced as the Fall releases, that's why I think they may have changed the names. It's not important, I'm just glad to have them because they are so much fun.
Gregg Posted October 1, 2006 Author Posted October 1, 2006 There are six altogether We have the Crusador and Aces Wild The next two are Bone Daddy (maroon) and Torch (yellow) and the last two for a November ship will be the Gambler (green) and Fire Ball (black) This is from the October issue, which is due out now This is an part of a complete article on the new Choppers.
Mr. Metallic Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 Thanks for clearing that up. I guess i had my facts mixed up. Sorry for any confusion I created. Now I'm really excited! 6 bikes!
Lyle Willits Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 Based on the photos above, I don't see any differences from the current two kits, except wheels and decals. I love these bike kits, but I don't see the point in releasing 4 more that are just like the two that are already out.
