The last upgrade changed how we can share from Flickr (topic is only for Flickr, no other photo hosting sites).  Hope this screenshot is enough to show how.  Feel free to experiment on this thread.

I believe, with no supporting data, that sometimes these types of changes are for security reasons. It is easier to hide malicious code in some of the ways that information (photos) are shared. Again, no supporting data, but that is the first thing I think of.

Les,

I copied the photo link from your post and pasted it here.
https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51210081965_c2312d9674_b.jpg
It shows up as a link - that means there is some extra (invisible) metadata in it.

Then I took your link (above), pasted it into Windows Notepad (which strips all possible metadata, and makes it "plain text"), then copied it from the Notepad and pasted it in this post. It shows up as a photo.

That is strange - I see the link.  With the way this site handles message editing, some strange tings can happen. But "cleansing"  any copied test by using Microsoft Notepad (or any basic plain-text editor) works really well.

I use an Apple MacBook, so I have no idea why you had to do so many steps.  Is that part of the problem for Les?

I don't use any Apple (or Android) devices, so I don't know.  All I know that as time marches forward and "improvements" or updates are made to computer software, things can get messed up.  In this case, the latest forum update seems to have changed the functionality of posting links to external photos. By looking at the problematic posts I understand what the problem is (and try to offer workarounds) but I don't know why the behavior is different now than when it was before the update.
