martinfan5 Posted June 5, 2021 Posted June 5, 2021 (edited) Built my first 1/12th kit, Aoshima KZ1000 Police bike kit, built as close as the kit allows to represent the one from the hit TV show CHiPs , the only thing I did was add the mic wire and connect it to speaker box, rest is OOB. Used metalizer powder on the brakes( I know, can't really see them). I undersized the license plate , its more 1/14th , its not without its issues of course. It was fun to build something different than my normal 1/24th/25th auto kits. Edited June 5, 2021 by martinfan5 2
bbowser Posted June 6, 2021 Posted June 6, 2021 Really nice job! I'm working on a bike too, makes a good change of pace.
Jim B Posted June 6, 2021 Posted June 6, 2021 I have this bike in the stash. You're looks really nice.
Mike999 Posted June 6, 2021 Posted June 6, 2021 (edited) Great work and thanks for posting. I wondered how those Aoshima police bikes looked built up. Yours looks fantastic. For anyone else who might want to build one...Aoshima released those kits with the flat windshield, like yours. Or with a streamlined cowling, as shown below. The boxes said "Windshield Type" or "Cowling Type." Both types came with decals for either the San Francisco Police Dept. or LAPD, with optional California Highway Patrol markings. See if you can spot the typo on the kit box... Edited June 6, 2021 by Mike999 goof3
Vince311 Posted June 21, 2023 Posted June 21, 2023 @martinfan5 great build! I'm in the midst of this same project. Curious, on the tank decal application. The instructions are a bit confusing... showing 'cut lines'. How did you handle this? Did you cut into the decal on each of these lines? thanks in advance. Vince
bisc63 Posted June 22, 2023 Posted June 22, 2023 Looks like they mean to make relief-cuts to allow the decal to fold around the multiple curves, overlapping itself a little at each cut as needed.
