David G. Posted June 26, 2021 Posted June 26, 2021 There was a time, maybe around 2015 or 17 that this forum was so awash in General Lee builds that it almost became a running joke. Seriously, you couldn't open a browser on this site without seeing at least a few "Full detail General Lee", "Accurate General Lee build", "General Lee WIP, lotsa pictures!". As I recall, it has been a while since I've seen a DoH General Lee build though. I'm eager to see how yours turns out. David G.

Guess the General must of been a popular thing back then to build. 21 hours ago, slusher said: I just thought it was hemi orange ? you can’t build an accurate General without the flag decal. Andrew D the Jolly Roger Posted June 27, 2021 Posted June 27, 2021 Best color is "Chevy Orange Flame." It's over at scalefinishes, was absolutely perfect.
Captain Spaulding Posted June 27, 2021 Author Posted June 27, 2021 Got the decals on, not really happy with the outcome. Purchased two sets of aftermarket decals from different Ebay sellers that weren't as advertised. First one was supposed to be white backing, came with orange backing different from the color of the car. Second one was what I wanted until I applied them and they were see through and didn't cover. Oh well as they say buyer beware. Ended up using the flag from the pro modeler kit, the 01 from the country Charger and the General Lee from one of the decal sheets that even though it was colored blue ended up black on the car. Not perfect but works for me, I'm not looking to make a completely accurate replica.
David G. Posted June 28, 2021 Posted June 28, 2021 Looks like you came up with a good combination. Since they used and destroyed around ten cars filming the series, I guess technically there is no "truly accurate" General Lee. David G.

Thanks David, watching that show now it's almost enough to make a car guy cry seeing what got destroyed during filming. All the Chargers, Fury/Monaco's and everything else you seen fly through the air or roll over.
Captain Spaulding Posted June 29, 2021 Author Posted June 29, 2021 Got a few little things done, clearcoated the body, the flag had a little reaction to it but gonna leave it as is not worth getting another decal sheet over and got the interior tub with the roll bar installed inside the body. Just the chassis to build now and will be done. Be another week or so before I'll be able to get back at it.
slusher Posted June 29, 2021 Posted June 29, 2021 Looks really nice Jason. Looking forward to you finished pictures!

doorsovdoon Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 Very nice work, chassis is looking great. This kit looks so much better than the dreaded MPC version.

Captain Spaulding Posted July 9, 2021 Author Posted July 9, 2021 Got the chassis all assembled and together with the body. Not too much longer till this is considered finished.
