Y'know, every single one I'm looking up seems to originate in Japan - maybe this one didn't make it stateside. C-note+ on auction sites right now...

Those will be pre orders Chuck, a lot of the japanese sellers seem to take pre orders months in advance. I waited near 6 months for my beemax audi quattro from a japanese seller but i had it 3 months before they made it to the uk shops, so I expect it would be the same for you guys in the usa

Thanks, Les -

I was actually talking about the old Tamiya Mk1 Facelift car, silver on the box.  Speculating with keyser whether that one ever made it to the USDM those 40 years ago.

I tend to lean on Japanese vendors for stuff like the new one.

There are indents for the pedals on both left and right side of the interior tub.  LHD is a given, just not sure if it would be street or race or both.

Jokes on both of us and it'll be the foot rest for the navigator for a Rally version...they were used in the very beginning of Gr. B.

The Silver car was the 16th kit in the Sports Car Series.  Not much of anything was really directly imported to the U.S. back then (1981).  Ironically the Silver one is the easiest of the two to find in the secondary resale market in Japan.  Never pay more than $50 for one, if you're willing to have the patience to bid on an auction they usually go for less than $30 in Japan.

Welp - I preordered this kit, because I'm a sucker for the first generation RX-7.

Has nothing to do with the one in my garage right now :)

Yeah, I know.  Series 3, different nose/tail treatment.

Got this kit in at the shop and it's a serious gem. The cast alloy wheels are beautifully depicted, the fine detailing on the chassis (especially with small parts like the watts link) is lovely, and the added little touches like the full decal set for all of the patterned upholstery really elevate it. I do wish I had a Monogram RX-7 on hand and a pair of dial calipers, too, because at least to my eye the Hasegawa kit appears a bit smaller physically than the Monogram as I remember it in the past.

I picked up the race version (1979 Daytona 24 class winner) of this kit recently, and it is really well done. Compared to some kits I have built in the past, the fit of the fender flares is amazing! No gaps, and the cut-outs are easy to trim.

I managed to pick up the initial release of the new Hasegawa kit, and the race version - both look great!  And I do hope there will be a LHD version shortly.  It looks like another version is already being prepared for release - the SA22C "Late Type Turbo GT".  I think  this was a Japanese and Australia version of the car, but I'm not sure.   I own a base model, US spec, 1985 (the "FB") - a clone of my first car really - so I'm looking forward to any releases they do with this mold.  Loving the GSL-SE wheels on this next release!

Holding my breath for the FB (series 3, later face-lifted version) dashboard and rear marker lights...

Here's the Hobby Link Japan link, I'm sure you can find it on some of the other sites, too.
