I have seen some lovely models made from this kit in shows here in England. This particular model will be up there with the very best that I have seen so far. Congratulations on this superb build being shared on here. Nice to see older classics featured on this site.

Maybe one day apart from MFH's very expensive Bugatti T35 we might see one by Italeri that would be more affordable for most of us.

Thanks Noel. I'm actually showing this at a regional show here in Florida in November. I'm betting it's the only one on the table! I hope that the Alfa 8c has been a big seller for Italeri... tooling up the version with fenders and headlights is a good sign. I would love to see a T35 produced by them. MFH produces some amazing kits but their 1:12 scale kits are more than I'm willing to invest in a single project.

Vintage racers have enormous appeal. They are works of mechanical art. They are objects of great beauty. They also speak to the romance and danger of the early days of motoring... Mefistofele set a land speed record of 146 mph in 1923. On a dirt public road. In a car with no front brakes or seat belts!

Got 'er done. I'll have to throw up some pics of the final details (mostly the scratchbuilt details where the bonnet meets the wood pieces on the chassis) and a few beauty shots. I got stuck in on an old stalled build I'm trying to finish up before a contest next month (Fujimi Ferrari 330P4 with the HRM resin engine kit) which has distracted me from wrapping up this WIP.

You're doing some excellent work on yours, keep at it and go at your own pace!

So a few completed pics to close out this build... I'll get an "under glass" thread posted as soon as I get some better pictures taken. Overall this model was a lot of fun, a lot of frustration and a great way to stretch my skills as a modeler. As always, questions and comments are welcome!

The "hero shot"...

Jason, your Mefistophele has turned out into a fantastic model. A kit that size is well worth the investment in time and effort with all the extra detailing.

Following on from my last post on this thread, my prayers have been answered. Italeri are releasing a Bugatti Type 35B during 2022!

Another thing happening on the big car kit scene is that some transkits for the big Airfix Bentley are in the pipeline by a UK modeller. His name is Nick and he has a thread on the Britmodeller website showing what is being developed. If you go on there look up Bentley may contain some Airfix for the details. He has his own website named Unobtainium.

I've been checking out some of those Bentley transkits. I'll have to pick and choose what to splash out on, definitely the wheels/tires and probably the engine. I can't wait for the Bugatti to come out. I'm going to build it to replicate the mostly bare-metal example in the Revs Institute here in Naples.

Jason, I reckon you will do the Bugatti justice when you get it and do your build, particularly as you have an example close to hand.

Some years ago I made a scratch built Type 59 that I wrote about in MCM in 1/16th scale. To me the T59 has beautiful lines set off with those racially spiked wheels. Look forward to the Italeri T35 when it is released as it is much more affordable to me than the MFH one much as I would have loved to build their one!
