Some years ago I bought an R&R. After looking it over carefully, I decided it was unbuildable (by me, anyway). I swapped it off to another modeler who was glad to get it, but I'm pretty sure he hasn't built it either.

Last year I bought a MCW '65 4-4-2. It looks pretty good, and I plan to build it. Only downside is no plating on the chrome parts, but I can work around that one way or another.

Do you have any pictures of parts painted with this?

From my experience it takes a long time to cure, unless they changed the formula from when I got a can a year ago. A week after painting a part I got a fingerprint embedded on it with light handling. It is a little duller than chrome but probably the closest you can get with a rattle can.

It has actually worked pretty fast for me usually within a day. It's the best spray can chrome I've used it works well for me.

I had good luck with Krylon "Foil" paint, available at Hobby Lobby. One coat, dried smooth, dried fully. Have only used it once but I'll definitely use it again.

I took several with and without flash.  It works fine for me but I'm sure others would rather just rechrome..

In person does it look like chrome or more like polished aluminum?

Probably the latter. Doesn't look as good as GOOD kit chrome, but I've seen some bad kit chrome that it looks better than.

A friend has a 1965 442 and wants me to build him a model of his car.  He sent me a Lindberg '67 442 and an R&R Resins '65 442.  The R&R Resins body is warped a bit.  With the upcoming release of the Round 2/AMT '64 Olds 442 I'm thinking of getting one and modifying the body for the '65 build.  It looks like most of the body panels of a '64 are the same as a '65 with the exception of the front of the hood and fronts of the fenders.  I have the bumpers and grill from the R&R Resins '65 442 that I can use.

I suspect R&R Resins and MCW used the old AMT '64 Cutlass hardtop to make their '65 442 kits.  Am I correct in thinking most of the body is the same between the '64 and '65 442?

Can you post here or send me some pictures of the MCW '65 Olds 442 interior and front and rear bumpers?

R&R Resins makes a '65 Cutlass and MCW makes 65 442.  Which is the better kit?

R&R has been out of business for many years, since Ray Parsons died. So any R&R you may find for sale is old stock from resellers.

RMR did buy the tooling and has revived some of the kits into their line. No telling status of that Olds.

MCW is in business now. You can place an order direct with them and have the product in a reasonable timeframe. They have a good reputation.

There are photos on the MCW website.
