Wheel 2  -  punching discs fr fine screen to squeeze into holes drilled into the kit brake drums - but im painting the wheel components mica silver before assembly -

This change in assembly results in a better looking wheel - 2 more to make and assemble - 3D printed Borranis might look a little better - but i’m getting a kick out of conquering the These unique wheels  - shout out to Jeff Edmonson - he was a frequent contributor to Quarterman’s MRRN mags - and owned up to drawing the complex photo-etch parts for this kit …

Yup, 3D printed wheels are nice but these...these look like they're made with something special...like metal?

Once i finished a couple of wheels i began to check wheel placement on the chassis casting - so far so good …

Last wheel assembly - broke tips of

four xacto blades parting the photoetch spoke rings - but i got the hang of these wheels  -  with the added wire inserts - each wheel had 15 parts - will need a wheel for the trunk - probably use a Deeks wheel with a simpler 2 ring assembly -

The door has two hinges welded to the door frame …. I’m making a single hinge soldered to the brass frame member …

The hinge has a brass pin that im inserting into a hole drilled into a recess in the thick resin casting

- the fit is challenging but the brass hinge is thin and flexes - allowing me to find a reasonable fit for the door - its a process …

Not getting a perfect fit - but this is close- will make some adjustmemts after a coat of primer …

Back in June - at

the start of our sizzling summer - i hinged  the bonnett - but that left me with a gap at the leading edge ….

The Barquetta  body was riveted to a sub-frame - the frame members are visible on the sides of the driving compartment - and in the trunk - these frame members were made fr .040 Evergreen …

That kind of detailing adds a lot of realism, especially with the open cockpit Barchetta. Very nice!
